Here's another link (I find the FT website a pain) http://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-says-syria-is-buying-oil-from-islamic-state-1448471418 I'm not suggesting, and not I think is the US, that Assad actively supports IS, but in these sorts of situations, people do pacts in the short term to get by, without necessarily taking a long term view....

Certainly the world being under US control wouldn't be good-it may even make IS grow stronger.
I cannot see ISIS agreeing to any ceasefire...why would they ?

These are deeply irrational, backward thugs, who are not open to any kind of negotiation. I fear that they will only be stopped by force.
keyplus90: "Why not the whole world under US control? "

Rather more comprehensive than Marshwarble's question, but not far from the rather unpalatable truth

"US Foreign Policy Goals in Syria" [ fifth major subheading down,about ¼ scroll down]

{the entire article is long but well worth reading}

As for the two money grabbing Links re US accusing Syria of (oil) dealing with ISIS would put as much credence in them as in this Link which would NEVER be allowed to be shown in any Western MSM

Isis oil going to Israel...

I was wondering why the US hadn't already bombed those oil fields that we bombed after the vote. Maybe it's cos some of their "high-ups" have connections to Israel and make some nice profit from the black-market oil.
...that's probably one of most sane articles I've read on the topic of Syria lately. Cheers ickeria! :)
