I was working /caring in a Local Mental Hospital with persons remanded from the courts, there were quite a few there with very serious crimes including Murder, I am not condoning the conduct of the So Called Trained Staff but believe me, in theory the training is correct, in reality is does not work, when you have a Sixteen>> 20 Stone person coming for you with anger in his / her eyes you have to do what's in the best interest of your fellow worker also the service user, if one of your fellow workers get's injured by using the So Called correct Procedure you are on your own, we had "Bleepers" to call for assistance but that depends on the staffing level, there was one clever sod in that program that showed the type of person he was when he punched the window, management should have had an eye on that person to that person had Influenced the rest of staff, I had one person that tried to attack me because of a cigarette, we had to take him down in a matter of a min, yes a min that's the time you had, so make no mistake the so-called clowns that make the rules / procedure / policies , these people that has never done the job should take it upon themselves go into the Rooms / area's where these attacks can take place & that could be anywhere / anytime then come back and see if their polies work, I know in theory they do, in reality they don't.
That action should also be taken against the scum inmates who also taunt/abuse the staff.
I did watch this and clearly there were some going way OTT. Problem, in this sort of job, you will attract that sort of person who then manages to get past the checks.
But the problem was clearly not on one side (and I suspect much of the taunting was edited out as it would have detracted from the story line).

That man was a horrible bully. You don't take the job to make judgement on people.
I worked in a psychiatric hospital and have worked with some very unsavoury characters. They were there because of their mental health issues...
Where I worked on every ward there would be a 'pip' runner so if a 'pip' was pulled one person from that ward would run to the ward in need. I never witnessed mistreatment. Bullying and intimidation doesn't help anyone.
Often in these places the patients back stories are quite harrowing.

Yet another abuse of vulnerable people in the care system that had to be exposed by the BBC.
If the G4S management had been doing their job properly, these people would been exposed long before now.
Who knows if the same isn't happening right now.in all the other places G4S have been given to run ?

When you hear a Companies name and past controversies are the first thing that springs to mind, your heart sinks at what you are about to discover.

Very difficult to vet all actions by employees 24/7 but certain areas must be tightened up to prevent repeats of this bullying.
