I have to disagree.
Children learn to communicate at school, by learning what facial expressions mean, from their teachers, and from each other.
If you remove that essential aspect of non-verbal communication from children, their development will suffer. That is a simple fact.
It would not affect you or I - as adults our ability to discern is far more developed and sophisticated - but we are not children.

Viv is not the only one that's wrong, if your child want's that sort of Tuition I'm sure there are schools elsewhere to fit your needs. why should children be intimidated by these masks, it's the teacher's face they want to see, & peole talk about Integration! Yes. I remember the shock I felt when I opened the staffroom door after someone knocked on it and found myself confronted by a figure in a burkha. After a bit of probing (verbal) I identified the wearer as a mild-mannered girl whom I had taught for several years. My '"Why?" brought the response that now that she was in6th form she was not bound by uniform rules. I was very saddened, but there was no official response in those days - apart from my own arguments, which cut no ice. :(
