How do those blind from birth communicate and learn effectively if being unable to see to see facial expressions is such a barrier?
Touch.
///How do those blind from birth communicate and learn effectively if being unable to see to see facial expressions is such a barrier?///

That's kind of insensitive, Corby, don't you think? Not to mention stupid.
Svejk, one of the Courses we had to attend when supporting persons with Mental Health & L.D. was facial expression, If blind, "Touch" apart from what has been posted, I think the UK should follow France & have a total Ban on this Stupid Item of clothing, It's not needed, It's not liked, it's a security Issue, degrades Muslim Women, & if the Muslim men don't like it, hard luck, the wife can always walk out, & yes, they can walk out.
Is that a Yes or a No, Corby?

Of course they should be banned.
Yes, it should be banned. I'll be back later with a veil on to vote again.
The root of the problem isn't so much the girls themselves but their parents, notably the fathers attempting to make a political point, brainwashing them into thinking it is right and normal.
However, the tide is turning, and even Cameron is becoming emboldened by watching Trump, who, the more 'politically incorrect' he is, the more popular he becomes.
The vast majority of the population is, like me, becoming more and more tired of all this nonsense.
The current adult muslim population who wear their traditional dress, both men and women, are very unlikely to adopt western clothes so our only hope is the children. Banning veils completely in all our schools would be a good first step on the road to integration so that we don't have another generation of burqa-wearers. Opposition from muslim parents who might object should be resolutely resisted.
THECORBYLOON, So in order to accommodate the foibles of teachers who insist on concealing their faces from the rest of the world, children should be obliged to learn as though they are physically disadvantaged? Good grief! I seriously question what planet some people are living on!! The veil when adopted by educated Muslim women in this country is worn, in the main, as a political statement. Don’t be fooled. It is nothing more. Women who are oppressed by their fathers, husbands, and brothers are very seldom educated. The simple fact is that the well-being of all children must take priority. Teachers who, for whatever personal reason, refuse to interact openly with their students, and hence do the job to the best of their ability, should be told in no uncertain terms to find another career!

I think as is reiterated several times, this is very much a political, rather than religious stance.
What a truly ridiculous comment from the LOON at 22:17 !!
The view of many of those who have posted is that being unable to view facial expressions hinders education whether being learnt or taught. I am well aware that blind folk can learn through touch but that ignores the fact that education can also be delivered to them verbally.

My point is that not seeing a full face does not preclude education being delivered or learnt. The fact that a teacher wearing a veil is adjudged to be poor ignores the possibility that she may just be a poor teacher who HAPPENS to wear a veil and how is it possible to differentiate that?

Teachers or children should not be banned from wearing a veil.
Kids at school are banned from wearing lots of things.

How would things work if the classroom was full of kids wearing veils?

THECORBYLOON, no veil - no question. No child should be faced with a faceless teacher.
We could have Benedictine teachers who have taken a vow of silence. After all, deaf kids learn things.
Is this an innocent teacher or a terrorist going into school?

That say's it all Vulcan.
VULCAN if I showed you a picture of a white man in tennis gear carrying a sports bag, is he a sports teacher or is he a madman with guns in the bag? What is your point?
Not read other answers. My answer is an unequivocal 'Yes'. I still remember the shock of opening the staffroom door to face a Yr.12 in full burkha (eventually I established who she was - had been a nice, quiet, studious kid).
Oops! already posted the same answer, sorry.
