A lot of people found it difficult to take Nick Griffin seriously over the past few years.

Back in 2006, he claimed that Stephen Lawrence was not killed by white racists, but that he was a drug dealer, killed by other black men.

So with that in mind, it's understandable (although, perhaps not excusable), that many people thought that Mr Griffin was not more than an 'agenda bender'.
