Unfortunate. Sad. But hardly surprising. Allow mass migration into your country and citizens will become demoralised and increasingly angry at what is being imposed on them. At some point a catastrophic reaction will occur somewhere. It's the government's job to avoid this sort of situation, not ensure it.
Naomi...I have answered your post, many times before.
Of course mass immigration is calling a problem in some countries, but it doesn't excuse what happened in Bautzen, and that is why I am addressing Chilli's thread, as Mamy has done.
But just like Trump, you refuse to condemn this as well.
/// That White Paper was undermined by James Callaghan and eventually dismissed by Harold Wilson, leading to the greater closure of mines during Wilson's two terms in office than in Thatcher's three terms, and yet Wilson is held as the great left wing hero. ///
andy-hughes, // Let's not gang up on one AB'er shall we? //
Utterly misplaced comments like that are what's likely to send threads off piste. As I type, five responses to it - so for the first time the thread is now off piste. Incidentally, I'm in no gangs.
No-one condones arson, but no-one was hurt and a point has been made.
If no notice is taken then I fear that the next reaction might be more like 'Kristallnacht'. You cannot expect a people to stand by as they are 'invaded'. It's a question of numbers. Germany would have welcomed possibly a couple of thousand genuine refugees, now they feel genuinely threatened.
This has to be sorted once & for all, there will be riots, there will be people getting hurt, the arrived by boat, send them back by the ship load, I waiting for a few to say heartless Bsd, not heartless at all, they way things are going there are going to be deaths, sever Injuries, It's not up to the UK to sort it out, these people are in France / Germany / Greece, let them sort out returning these people before their own Country looses their Identity.
It certainly hasn't helped with Frau Merkel's exuberant and ill-conceived 'welcome' policy which to many has caused a disrespect of German culture. The sexual attacks on women hasn't helped either. The depth of feeling is swelling and this animosity could severely escalate.
That said, this is a growing international situation of which there is a complete lack of harmony. You have Turkey now bursting at the seams requiring support and nations almost working in silo and not harmony.
Yes, it is not the UK's problem but it is everybody's problem.
It maybe everybody's problem Chris, but's it's in France / Germany / Greece & as you say Turkey, these people will kill their tourist trade, never mind pussy footing, they need to sort it, and yes, Merkle has dropped a bolk and she knows it, it's no use closing the gate when the cows have gone out of the field.
