On the News Section we have seen Katie Hopkin's opinions both criticised or supported, but whatever your opinion of her, I am sure most of us will wish to convey all our good wishes along with every success on coming out of this surgery successfully cured of her dreadful epilepsy?
Get well soon Katie.

You've only got to remember the vile way the lefties "celebrated" Maggie Thatcher's death to realise what an unsavoury bunch of miserable excuses for normal human beings they are.

There's a difference between a "Get well soon" thread and a "RIP" thread.
Let's say that absolutely everyone who contributed to this thread kept to the subject, saying (what many have said), "I don't always agree with her, but I hope she makes a speedy recovery"...it would literally be the most useless thread so far this year.
What is the point of "Get well soon" when the subject isn't a member of AB?
However, "RIP" threads have value, because they elicit a wide range of expression:
"Oh my God...I didn't even know he was ill?"
"That's terrible...such a shame. She had it all and lost it to drugs."
"Yeah, I just read about that. The whole band died. And the weird thing is that I bought their album on iTunes literally the hour they died."
You see?
Major difference.
By the way - who is it who is incapable of posting here without getting their answers removed???

Brain surgeons are flipping amazing.
I mean...seriously.
To open up someone's head, and fix their brain!
This is why when describing something simple, I default to:
"It's alright, it's not brain surgery"
Rather than:
"It's alright, it's not rocket science".
Let's be honest - rocket science is only slightly more complicated than car mechanics.

Step back for a moment.
Don't you think that there are certain people who will always attract discussion?
It would be unthinkable if the following were to fall ill, and certain factions didn't use the thread to expound on their feelings on them:
Tommy Robinson
Nick Griffin
Sir Lenny Henry
Camila Batmanghelidjh
Richard Littlejohn
Lindsay Lohan
David Cameron
Doreen Lawrence
Kate McCann
These are people who attract comment.
And as I've said before, "Get well soon" threads don't actually make any sense.
If a regular contributor on AB (touch wood I'm not tempting fate) were to fall ill, a "Get well soon" thread make perfect sense. But to wish a stranger who's not on AB...is odd.
But it makes more sense if we delve behind the reason for the thread.
AOG - did any part of you want this thread to explode into a pro and anti Katie Hopkin debate?
I ask, because there have been eighteen threads concerning Ms Hopkins in the past three months, and every single one of them results in a robust amount of discussion.
Did you think this one would escape that?
Are you not personally thrilled at the to'ing and fro'ing, as it allows you to saddle up your high horse for a quick canter to Lower Outrage-by-the-Sea before supper?

// I thought her column about the McCann's this week was particularly hateful and unneccessary. //

andy-hughes, //… you will need to accept that adjectives [in this case andy-hughes use of the word vitriol] are interchangeable.//
Therefore it isn’t solely the right who are guilty, as you imply. It clearly works both ways.
sp1814, //So what I'm saying is that people who criticise Katy Hopkins are accused of spouting vitriol. I wasn't saying that Katy Hopkins is the vitriol-spouter. //
You weren't saying that Katy Hopkins is the vitriol-spouter. but andy-hughes was. I didn’t misunderstand. I was questioning his double standards with his use of the word ‘vitriol’ when describing Katie Hopkins’ work.

I tend to think as I write, and write as i think - I've always done that, probably too late to change that system now I fear.
I have learned to live with the fact that my written opinion will not always stand up to microscopic pseudo-legal analysis, and found wanting.
The main thrust of my views usually gets through unscathed, and if I occasionally trip myself up with the wrong word or phrase here or there, I accept that as the price to pay for not dissecting every word in advance of posting, because frankly I just don’t take my opinion that seriously.
If I can live with it, I bet you can too!
