But because of the huge generalisation of words like 'scum' 'trash' and others similar the premise which was fit for discussion has gone.
We can't generalise or if we do then we lose perspective and topics go wildly off track.

Surely to have access to human rights you first have to act like a human. By definition a criminal is someone who infringes someone else`s rights so if they dont recognise other peoples rights how can they possibly lay claim to them. I cant think of a single crime that, directly or indirectly, does not affect someone`s human rights.
Apart from the fact its against the law and can be obtained, I believe legally, if you have a condition that requires it or a valid substitute. Cannabis damages your lungs, due to its higher burning temperature, incurring hospital bills. You also get people who, like drink driving, who think its ok to drive when on drugs - note the increase in drug driving signs at the roadside.
ok for the benefit of those like capsman who think they can read but definitely cant process heres what I said in the OP..."for the most part these are trash"
the meaning of that is pretty clear to me...operative part being "for the most part" meaning not all but a majority of...so its pretty clear i didnt class them all as scum, but as usual the same old suspects on here twist and distort threads to suit...
and still nobody can give a good reason why an apology isnt enough, why do these for the most part scum have to be given compo in the form of money ?

I think nailit and baldric are both right. I don't have experience with prisons, I do with mental health and they are far more likely to end up in prison- and yes, usually because some sort of crime has been committed. But you also have to consider whether treatment or punishment will be effective for most of them. I would suggest any compensation due is awarded and given to an appropriate charity.
Sorry the dealer one doesnt work - as he should have paid taxes on his profits - thereby disadvantaging honest tax payers and legitimate claimants. TIC
I think my first sentence is the most applicable to this scenario though - its funny how those who break the law without a second thought are the first to embrace it when they feel they have been disadvantaged.
