At last...the truth is out.

Some important points from the above :::

Police failures led to the deaths in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster.

Jurors answered yes to the question about whether any police error caused or contributed to a dangerous situation at the 1989 FA Cup semi-final.

The behaviour of Liverpool fans did not contribute to the dangerous situation at the turnstiles.

Retrocop - in reference to the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire's suspension - //Why has this man got to be the scapegoat and fall on his sword.// It is nothing to do with being a 'scapegoat' - it is to do with being head of an organisation which is revealed to have wilfully obstructed the inquest in its investigations, and continued the entire tragic...

Doesn't hurt SJW's, who've probably never been to a football match, to see what their new best friends were like.

It was being discussed on Radio 2 today. But in my opinion the actions of the police did not lead to 96 people being killed. The medical team were inexperienced in dealing with the unconscious patient and that was a contributory factor in so many deaths.
Here we go with the crass acronyms - sigh.
Svejk - what is an 'SJW'?
You've got to be kidding?
Svejk,
I don't know either!
Svejk - //You've got to be kidding? //

I assume that is addressed to me?

I wasn't kidding, I didn't know what the term meant, but in the mean time I have googled it, and I now know what it means - but I fail to see why you assume I should simply know this expression - I have never seen it before.
Well I do know and it's crass and unnecessary and frankly lazy.
Gavmcp - //Svejk,
I don't know either! //

Allow me - it means 'Social Justice Warrior' - an expression to label people who side with one particular argument, without necessarily knowing the facts involved.
This site is an education! I was always taught to speak proper! Not to use abbreviations or slang but obviously those who taught me were wrong!
So top marks to the lawyers on the winning side.
Now can we expect the compensation claims to follow ?
Why do we always see people wanting justice as wanting money. If I had lost my brother in such circumstances there wouldn't be enough money in the world to replace him. And if I did get compensation I think I would donate it to a charity as it would always feel wrong.
//Why do we always see people wanting justice as wanting money.//

because the burden of proof is less onerous in a civil claim than in a criminal case. after 27 years a successful prosecution - even after yesterday's verdict - is not going to be straightforward. whereas establishing a "balance of probability" in a civil action is very much more likely to succeed.
The troublemakers at Heysel were swiftly identified and dealt with, including being imprisoned. Executives at the stadium itself were found to have been complicit in the tragedy, too.

No waiting for 27 years for an eventual "hands up" from those directly involved for the victims families......

//I can't believe that some people want to blame fans for behaving like fans do.//

Well I got my answer. Did you watch Svek's Heysel clip ?
I can't understand why the Europeans want us to stay in the EU!!!
I note that Mikey has had a change of tack throughout his OP. When he wishes to put down the likes of Tommy Robinson and his followers he will use the term 'football hooligans'. Seems they don't exist now.
naomi, I understand Liverpool gets the first editions of the newspapers, the ones that kept the news off the front page. Hence the upset when they arrived there and seemed to be playing the story down. Telling the south east the news, but not the people who most wanted to read it, is clumsy to say the least.

The Times relented partly because of anger on Twitter but also partly because its own staff protested

Interesting that the Sun has backed down, at least online. I don't know why they ignored the story in the first place: they shamed themselves in 1989 but had made a decent job of apologising in recent years. Now they've undone that good work again
So this was never a Witch hunt was it? The chief Constable of South Yorkshire police was suspended today shortly before his retirement just because there was a different perception of the events that took place years ago. He probably was not in the service when the tragedy occurred. The families of the victims celebrate their justice. Why has this man got to be the scapegoat and fall on his sword.
BTH Dr Billings it is now PC to call it a Police Service not a Police Force. Servile little pratt.

Here's your link for justice for what it's worth.

A-H. Explain why this man should never be allowed to sleep soundly in his bed for the rest of his life!

Mrs May pays a marvelous tribute to the Liverpool families in the HOC today...well done her !

What about proper justice for the 39 fans killed by Liverpool fans at the Hysel stadium a few years before Hysel in an almost identical fashion.
