Is there any possibility that the UK could have another referendum on leaving the EU? There seems to be widespread shock at the result and furthermore it would appear that a lot of people who voted to leave didn't have a clue if the real ramifications.
I know that they said it was a one time vote but that could have been politics speak. Is there a chance that if there seemed to be enough of an outcry at the result that they could have one final vote to see if the result would change?
I guess we shouldn't rule anything out at this point, but... well, really?
It would have to be a different question. "Should the UK accept the terms of the recent negotiations?", or some such, and with the understanding that, article 50 having by then already been triggered, we were going out of the EU either way.
Too late now.
I do know some people who voted Leave just as a protest vote against Cameron because they thought Remain should and would win but wanted it to be closer. Whether there were 700000 such voters I don't know.
We need to make the best of it
A second chance at someone elses idea of what democracy should be - a referendum where every vote counted suited me - even with Scotland trying to sway the result we still won. Yes it wont be easy but change never is.
Apparently if one side didnt win by 20% margin it could trigger another referendum, but that could in theory go on for evermore, the remain voters should suck it up and accept it,or move to Scotland where Sturgeon seems determined to break up the UK,gain independence then vote to remain or join the EU,personally speaking I would expel the Scottish from the UK
what you want to turn it into a neverendum? No way the answer has bee clearly given. we need to extract ourselves ASAP. We have 2 years, I'd say do it in 1.
I`m not sure the Scottish lady will get the support to leave the Uk and join the EU. It should be remembered they`d be the bottom of the queue and I`m not sure they could meet the financial standards.
>We have 2 years, I'd say do it in 1.
Well that would be nice but I doubt anyone could achieve that given that the law says 2 years unless we can somehow negotiate an early exit (and the EU won't make it easy as others may want to follow)
///Apparently if one side didnt win by 20% margin it could trigger another referendum///
When it was decided that we would have a referendum it was clearly stated that it would be a one time only event.I don't remember anything about a 20% margin.
