There is a time and place for everything, why do the gay community find the need to flaunt their sexuality at every opportunity?

No, he shouldn't be disciplined. And where better than the Gay Pride event to flaunt homosexuality?
At least we know they'll be dilligent in keeping the queens peace.
No he should not.

Do hetro police officers not flaunt their sexuality at every opportunity then? In my younger days I worked closely with the a section of the Met and I have to say they all but got them out and measured them on tables!
Was there ever a New Scotland yard, Islay?
What a grumpy old curmudgeon you are AOG !

"Every opportunity " ? ....London Pride occurs once a year....what problem do you have with that ?
well I took advice from err indoors before responding to this and it is officially "lovely" so why not eh?

Yes he should, he has a responsible uniformed job and has arrogantly put himself in a position where he could find that action will at sometime in his future compromise a decision he needs to make to carry out his duty, I just don't understand why Gays have to be such exhibitionists.
''There is a time and place for everything''

Yes there is, and this was the time and the place!
I think it was lovely and very emotional.

He was in the parade at the time, marching in formation with police officers, not linking arms with them during crowd control or anything like that.
Bladric, it is very important that gays are upfront about their sexuality because if they try to keep it secret from their employers they could be susceptible to blackmail.

Plenty of straight exhibitionists, proposing in public in a very 'look at me' way such as a flash mob. I have even seen a proposal during somebody else's wedding.
Marriage is just for old people, what a twit.
1. If his senior officers think he should.
2. It was at a Gay Pride march......surely it was a completely appropriate place to 'flaunt his sexuality'? It's not like he did it at Trooping of the colour, is it?
Some people just suck all the joy out of like and sick it up over your favourite shoes

It comes down to the fact that there is very little respect for the Uniform nowadays, and sadly that also includes 'from the people who earn their living wearing it'.
He was in the right place at the right time....
Do you think for one minutes that this was a spontaneous gesture? I can assure you no police officer would break lines without the knowledge of his senior officer. Actually very good for PR given the venue.
Should he face disciplinary action?

No.

"why do the gay community find the need to flaunt their sexuality at every opportunity?"

That's not true.

Fact is - there are hundreds of thousands of gay people who aren't interested in the Pride marches, and hundreds of thousands who are.

Vive la difference.
One has to wonder whether this question would have been asked if a straight off-duty copper proposed to his girlfriend at a public event.

Remember - he was off duty.
