I saw this earlier today, Piggy and have looked at it many times since.... a beautiful and, for me, a heart stopping photo.....he captured it beautifully.... and she is stunning.....the power she exudes is how we win battles...not with guns and knives........x
Stunning, iconic, moving picture.....just wonderful.

Unfortunately, have just seen the sequel on the news where the lady is sprawled in disarray on the ground, being arrested.

She will be forever an icon of a principle.
I also saw it earlier and thought it was breathtaking...stunning...amazing. A powerful image.
It's brilliant. almost too good to be true.
Wow!!
Certainly makes one concentrate and think, something everyone should do more of.
I agree with Answerprancer
Isn't it evocative of the man who stood in front of the tanks in Tiananmen Square....

And yes, Mamya.....more stopping and thinking would be wonderful...x
I honestly think that the two photos should be shown side by side. I.e. the first beautiful, iconic image confronting force and then the one of the poor woman sprawled on the ground. I think it says a lot about ignorance and power, but I'm open to correction and amendment.
Here's one of my few goes at doing journalistic photography, taken a couple of years ago. Not planned, I stumbled upon this scene while out taking pics in London...

No....I would be with you there, J....x

AP...what was the occasion?..x
That's very good too AP - I think they convey a similar sentiment.

A (seemingly) lone voice against many louder ones.
AP - journalistic photography is never planned. Nice photo.
gness, it was the tail end of one of the austerity prostests.
Thanks Mamya - the mood was tense and I thought it was going to kick off but I knew it was an image that had to be caught ...manual lens too!
Thanks, AP...I hope you got it published.....it's an interesting photo...more so as you look closely......one uniformed man in the distance looking at the protester....but that seems to be all.....no eye contact from those in front of him.... really good shot....x
Definitely a picture which will be discussed and shown to many in years to come, I love it .
Thanks gness. What captured me was that the guy arguing with the copper could have come across as a thug but he was talking sense (I stood and listened for a while before taking this) and at the end of the day was unarmed and outnumbered.
