Maybe not. Remember when Bush was running for the republican nomination one of his opponents was a much decorated veteran who had served in Vietnam. Bush had spent his time in the safety of the Coast Guard defending America's East Coast from possible attack.
The Bush campaign spent no small amount of money rubbishing that man and suggested he hadn't really earned his medals.

If Capt. Khan was a Muslim like his father (?) he was killed by another Muslim while doing his duty as a soldier, but that isn't the fault of Donald Trump, who simply wants to try to protect present-day Americans from the threat of Muslim Jihadists.
