I understand the action that's about to be taken by the French Hauliers, is it right no matter where the Truck / Driver comes from that he / she should be threatened by these idiots? all these driver are doing is to try and a make a living carrying the good the you the public have ordered, FOOD, Household Goods, yes they will cause havoc I'm 100% behind then, others will have the different views, but how would you feel if someone tried to drag you out of your car & threatened you will a knife, I doubt you would refuse would you, the whole fault here is the French / German Governments for allowing these people to cross their borders, in fact they should have been RE-Shipped from their port of entry back to where they started their journey, hartless some will obviously say, no not heartless, they may be leaving a war torn Country but that's up to their own Government to sort out not the rest of the E,U.
I can understand the frustration of the lorry drivers, but I fail to see how taking that out on the tourists is the way to go. The problem is the lack of French action to curb the lawlessness, not misbehaviour by holiday makers.
As bad as it may seem & I feel for the Holiday makers but it's the only weapon the Hauliers have O.G. the French Government should have addressed this years ago, now it's got out of control & they can not see a way to end it.
Perhaps they should go block the highways into and out of Paris. Bring the matter to the attention of the government.
If the French Driver say they will strike, strike they will O.G. Paris might be next.

I understand what you are saying but the lorry drivers need to be careful not to bite too hard on the hand that feeds them.

We are off to France next weekend for four weeks. Just eager to get there. Not bothered if we get stuck there as we love it. The only way anything gets done in France is if the hauliers take it into their own hands, They hold the power and while I feel for anyone travelling back who is delayed something does have to be done about these thugs.
Agchristie, that would never happen no matter what people's views on HGV'S, they are needed.
I can't understand why the good citizens of Calais have not taken to the streets in protest, even if they will be classed as far-right, who cares they want their town back.
I agree AOG

They must be highly tolerant folk that's all I would say.

This could be a messier rematch of the 'Rumble In the Jungle' in time however.
If it were different the Gallic shrug would be unknown.
once again the French punish the wrong people. They should be taking their protest to their government who caused this. Once again the innocent must suffer because of Fench incompetence.

Crossings to Dieppe or Le Havre for northern France, although longer, might be safer in the long run.
What way would you deal with all these people that are causing the problem at the port?
