This was radio 4 Today programme a couple of weeks ago .

All the speeders interviewed stated that they thought it was a good idea

If it were kid's courts, educating other youngsters about the dangers of knife crime, then I would go along with that, but kids educating adults???

No matter how thick or irresponsible they may well be, then it is just a joke.

We each see the World through our own eyes, this was about a new lower speed limit outside the school - nothing whatsoever to do with knife crime.

That idea for slightly older children has merit though.

Saying it was a bad idea , would not mean that they could not opt to appear , at the 'kids court ' , would it

But fines and points and fines are impersonal. By meeting potential victims and hearing their thoughts and answering their questions makes the situation so much more real.

That actually tanslates as - 'It would seem that only Squad sees this from the same point of view as I do' - which is not quite the same thing.

If you are a motorist being lectured by a policeman, then it's easy to tune out and not really take in what is being said to you.

If a child looks you in the eye and says something like "If you were speeding past my school gate, and killed me in your car, how would you feel?" - I think that would have a whole different impact, and that is obviously the thinking behind the scheme.
