/// If a child looks you in the eye and says something like "If you were speeding past my school gate, and killed me in your car, how would you feel?" - I think that would have a whole different impact, and that is obviously the thinking behind the scheme. ///

Only in liberal thinking cloud cuckoo land.

The type of person who is inconsiderate enough to speed in a restricted zone, knows perfectly well what the consequences can be.

He or she will take more notice of a stern cop with a speeding ticket in his hand, than a bunch of brain washed kids.

Well.......is there a limit that a perpetrator can attend the "Kid's Court?"

If not, then it is useless as a method of ..."education".

It is a "gimmick" which will be lucky to survive 6 months.....if that.
AOG - //Only in liberal thinking cloud cuckoo land. //

That's one viewpoint of the situation.

I would sit there and put up with the carp if I had to just to avoid the points, £100 fine is neither here nor there.
I do try not to break Urban Speed Limits, especially near schools etc. but the National Limits on A and M roads are fair game and I do have a bit of fun when road and traffic conditions allow.
It won't be much fun when you kill someone.

someone. ///

That is quite obvious it is never fun if one kilts someone, only to a psychopath.

A person can kill someone just by reversing off their drive.
This is about speeding isn't it? It's not about reversing, carelessly, off the drive.

:-)

///It won't be much fun when you kill someone///

Said the person who had previously posted

// I can't drive on the motorway.///
What has that to do with the price of fish?
Well I think it was great project and learning experience for the kids at the very least and as it's very trendy on here to agree with a poster of substance I agree with Andy Hughes.
The whole concept is both childish and patronising. Let kids be kids, plenty of time to grow up and live in the real world.
Thanks Prudie!
They live in the real world already , it's on the roads outside school and home alike.
I think it's an interesting idea - it's easy to dismiss it as a 'novelty' or 'gimmick', but I think it has some merit and may be a useful alternative to the existing driver awareness courses.
Some of the people that appeared on the today programme , stated that it made them think about their speed , listening to the kids ; whereas even having points on their licence would not have done , in the same way

I'm not sure I would want to face young Joey. There again, who has time for kangaroo courts? ;o)
