'humanitarian Crisis' In Nhs Hospitals, Warns Red Cross

When the Red Cross says something like this, then surely we have to sit up and take notice ?
A quote from the Shadow Health Secretary :::::::
"For the Red Cross to brand the situation a 'humanitarian crisis' should be a badge of shame for government ministers."
Who can argue with that ?
The NHS is safe with us ....really ?

How did I guess that old chestnut would come up?
Of course there are plenty of foreign nationals who do a damn good job in our NHS, and these should be welcomed with open arms.
But it is not these who are causing the demise of the NHS, these are the immigrants we want to welcome into our country, but there are huge masses of other immigrants flooding into this country that have never paid a penny into the system or are ever likely to do so, yet they are crowding our hospitals and other health services with their very large families and numerous health problems.
This is the same problems that we are seeing with our schools and housing etc.
It is time someone had the bottle to admit this without the usual excuses such as the winter weather, our old are living longer, we are not building enough houses etc etc.
It is called the National Health Service, the nation being the UK not every nation of the world who's citizens care to come along and receive the free health care, that we in this country have paid into over the many years our once envied Health Service has existed.

Aog, when my mum was in hospital many times about 2-3 years ago, I don't recall seeing huge Eastern European families clogging up the system. I saw no people that I might take to be Muslim using all the beds. And this was in a city which has taken in many immigrants over the years.
The problem is the bad design of NHS management, people living longer - a good thing of course, if they can have quality of life - and lack of social care.

It's not Asians particularly though, is it? I read an article in The Times the other day where the writer was forced to take her elderly mum to A&E because there was no other care available to check her chest infection and other problems over the weekend.
They waited 12 hours overnight to see a doctor. The person in front of them in triage had a sore shoulder and could probably have just taken some ibuprofen. The writer didn't mention the ethnicity of that person, but there is no reason to assume that all the bedblockers and queue-hoarders are immigrants.

Jo....you are correct but its much easier for the lazy-minded to just throw up the issue of immigration, rather than look deeper into the problem. For those, immigration is the root of all evil.
I have just heard our Health Minister, Jeremy Hunt being interviewed by Humphrys on the Today Program, and neither mentioned immigration. Hunt, however, did promise more funding.
Lots of people have chosen to ignore the huge problem of bed blocking, because the social care industry is creaking at the seams.....an industry that depends on immigrant workers.

Even quite simple jobs, like cleaning, are done by immigrants, when we have many of our own unemployed that could push a mop around.
The care industry is slowly collapsing, with care homes going out of business, and there are a lot of immigrants working in them. In my area, the Polish seems to be in evidence in these places.

Does Overworked, underpaid, too much paperwork, Claims, Incompetent overpaid Higher Managers, never having breaks, car park charging not come into it, why should member of the NHS Staff have to pay to park their cars up with a cost approx £400>£500 P/Y out of their wage, there are people within the UK willing to do the job, it's a job that been destroyed by trying to save money at the cost of peoples health / life's.
