'humanitarian Crisis' In Nhs Hospitals, Warns Red Cross
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/he alth-38 538637
When the Red Cross says something like this, then surely we have to sit up and take notice ?
A quote from the Shadow Health Secretary :::::::
"For the Red Cross to brand the situation a 'humanitarian crisis' should be a badge of shame for government ministers."
Who can argue with that ?
The NHS is safe with us ....really ?

This isn't about immigration, its about our current Government running around with only one aim in sight....crisis management.
The Red Cross makes it clear that it isn't just the Hospitals where the problems exist. The main problem seems to be when people are discharged for Hospitals, and encounter a care system that has fallen apart.

Mikey, the first cracks in the care system appeared over 20 years ago with the introduction (by a Tory government) of what they called ‘Care in the Community’. Since then, even throughout the long years of a Labour government that did nothing to repair it, the care system has continued to decline. As I said, the whole system needs a thorough – and sensible – overhaul. The NHS wastes money.
The NHS and Education should not be political footballs. It seems to me that we have lurched from one idea to another on far too many occasions on how these two great institutions in the UK should be run.Political affiliations aside lets hope that this government can at least begin to alleviate some of the problems in both spheres.
I work on a reception in a hospital, and a very high proportion of the people I see coming in looking for treatment are foriegn, all they can do is point and say "hurts" or "pain" they cant even fill a triage form out, im guessing these wont be working and paying in to the NHS.
But on the other hand most of the Europeans that come in speak fantastic English and are clearly working.
There are also a few of the domestics the from eastern Europe again who speak pretty much perfect English.
Dave.

OG and Gulliver....both well said. As a tax payer for the last nearly 50 years, I feel as if I have paid into a system that should now be providing me with the service I expect. I expect our present Heath Secretary to get off his behind, and actually do something, rather than sitting on he sidelines, carping.
But part of the problem is caused by bed-blocking, and that most certainly is something our present Government can do something about. Give the Councils that provide after-NHS care the proper funding, and do it now, not after the result of yet another spending review at some indeterminate date in the future.
People are dying and yes, its far too important to dwell too long on Party Politics, although we are not far short of 7 years of continuous Tory rule.

Baldric, I keep asking him why Labour didn’t change all the things he’s unhappy with but he won’t answer me. Can’t think why. ;o)
Mikey, from your link: //Dr Mark Holland, president of the Society for Acute Medicine, said the description "humanitarian crisis" had some truth in it.//
Some truth? So which bits are true and which are not?
Have a look at this link.
