One has to empathise with them, the thought of a long missing daughter and now this, what can only be guessed an enormous legal bill to face?

Should they appeal?

"Tracy and Gary from a working class bakground would Not have been treated with kid gloves...FACT !"

Although I think you're quite right, it's not FACT, it's CONJECTURE.

So exactly why did they get no police action taken against them?
streuth..lok at the Facts,,3 very young kids are left alone in an unlocked fLat in a foreign country !!

WHO ON EARTH WILL SAY THAT IS ACCEPTABLE ?

omg THE POLICE THOUGHT IT WAS ACCEPTABLE !!! give me strength! these are so called professional people....God save their souls they are responsible for whatever horror wee Mdeline had to endure
I agree with minty. Horrible situation but kate and Gerry were extremely lax with their child care.
Give up Minty, you won't convince those who choose to find the McCann's actions that night acceptable. For what it's worth I agree with you absolutely for 3 children age 3,2 and 2 such abandonment was at best criminally negligent and at worst downright wicked.
snooker player look in your plain sights thread been trying o catch you !
Going back to the original question, no I don't think there is any point in appealing.
The Portuguese courts and police have hampered the McCanns at every stage. I'm not sure it's a great idea for them to have Portuguese lawyers.
Portugal was worried about the effect on its tourism industry rather than help to find a little girl.
Amaral made up ridiculous lies, which some British media enhanced. Facebook is full of people calling the McCanns monsters and worse, and it's becoming like that on AB. I'm glad to see that not everyone is, though.
will do
canary it saddens my soul that wee innocents will not get justice and inside I weep for them..
clover I agree no point in pursuance ..only because it is futile and will not bring the wee mite back..I will remember her always in my prayers xx
Many thanks murray.
my pleasur snooker xx
I weep for Madeleine as well. I also weep for her parents who are going through hell.
They left their children in their beds, as far-fetched as it may seem, because they were being responsible parents who did not want to interrupt their children's normal bedtime routines. They naively believed, as had I before becoming an ex pat all those years ago, that crime didn't exist in "paradise."

Does anyone honestly, honestly believe they'd have left their kids alone if they'd known about the numerous burglaries and attempted child abduction that had taken place in the 15 months leading up to their fateful holiday.

I wish people would stop spewing hatred.

Gerry, Kate, Madeleine, Sean & Amelie are all victims in this. YES, Kate and Gerry too.

They made a stupid mistake but the real criminal is the person who abducted Madeleine.

Remember that the essence of this thread is about whether the McCann's pursuit of justice in relation to the libel case should continue.

As tragic as the case is, the court has upheld the previous ruling in that the comments made were within the reasonable parameters of free speech.

As I said earlier, my opinion is that the court reached the correct decision.
