The law does not take the religious affiliations of convicted prisoners into account when sentencing.
So that means you can't increase the sentence for a man just because he shouts a slogan that is at odds with your own particular religious prejudices.
As I have said many times, the law stands apart from such personal animosities - that allows it to function fairly and correctly

TTT - When you believe in a god, it's the simplest thing on earth to think that every vile and horrible thing you do and say is sanctioned by your god because he thinks its a good idea.
That gives you carte blanche to be the most dreadful human being you can, and bask in a wonderful warmth of self-righteousness.
Religion - what can go wrong ...

fender - //islam is the problem..some of it's adherents cannot contain themselves, their book gives them the green light, if you don't believe me read the koran //
Islam is not the problem - it's the fact that, like any organisation, it provides an umbrella for people who behave badly to shelter under.
That applies whether it's Muslim men abusing girls, or Christian men abusing boys - as we are debating on another thread.
People don't actually need an excuse to behave appallingly, but if there is one there, and religion fits the bill - they'll take it.

"god" is seems is deemed great but does he condone sexual abuse? ''
I don't personally think so, but many Muslims do, because their prophet, Mohammad, was a paedophile, having 'married' and had sex with a 9 year old girl and it's all in the Koran so it has to be true.
He also, by the way, told his followers that Allah had told him that they could have up to 4 wives, but he (Allah) had also said that it was OK for him to have 9, because he was a special case.

Naomi - //andy-hughes, //Islam is not the problem //
It is. //
I would disagree.
There are millions of peaceful Muslims living in the world, untouched by the nonsense spouted by fanatics, and the acts they perpetuate.
You know as well as I do, that if a cult arose tomorrow where people derived messages to kill unbelievers from the pages of the Manchester telephone directory, there would be people doing just that by mid-day.
The urge to inflict harm and death on others is simply part of the psyche of some human beings. If they can find a hook to hang it on - Islam, Christianity, the telephone directory, then all well and good.
But blaming the religion for death is like blaming a gun - it's down to what is done with it that is the issue.
