I think I made it fairly clear in my first post that had it been in France I would not expect there to be any issue whatsoever in her not wearing a headscarf, generally I feel people should adopt the cultural norms of one's hosts. Likewise I commented that I found Michelle Obama equally crass on this point, and I am happy to agree with you that some cultural norms are untenable and impossible to endorse or adhere to under any circumstances ( female circumcision, stoning people to death, illegality of homosexuality to name but a few).

On my visits to Lebanon I don’t recall it ever being compulsory for a woman to cover her head and therefore the sight of a bare headed woman will come as no great shock to the Grand Mufti.
According to Reuters, Marine le Pen has now cancelled the meeting anyway.

That is your interpretation, which, not for the first time, is incorrect. At no point did I say that the dress restriction is right, or that I agree with it, and I have already pointed that out.

To you maybe - but that does not invalidate it in the eyes of women who choose to do it.
It's easy to take a lofty Western view that our emancipated view is the only view, and women everywhere in the world should be living by our rules and standards, and if they don't they are subjugated, or just stupid.
It's that sort of assumption that drags western countries into wars because we assume that democracy is right for everyone, and they must have it, by military force if necessary.
If you can learn to read the difference between pointing something out, which I did, and agreeing that it is acceptable, which I did not, you won't have to ask questions to which you claim you know the answer - even when you clearly don't.
