Vulcan....when the Tory machine fell over and died in 1997, that is exactly what happened ! What a short memory you have !

This may help :::

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_general_election,_1997

Sqad....I am not that familiar with Stephen Kinnock. But I am much more familiar with Alan Johnson, and Hilary Benn, amongst others.

Politics is always a long game and anybody who is writing off the Labour Party here 2017 is plain wrong ( not you ! )
However my old china mikey is correct the Tories will run out of steam and be replaced at some point but history has shown that whatever party does it will have to basically become the Tories.I think Labour will dissolve in the next few years, get slaughtered in 2020 and then they'll have to re hash themselves probably won't have a chance to get in till 2030.
PS thanks to the Limp dums for fixed term parliaments, very useful.
TTT...that is a prediction an awful long way into the future !
well for what it's worth mikey, let's hope we are both still around to see it eh!
Now that I have heart problems diagnosed TTT, I have my fingers crossed on that !

I would hate to die under a Tory Government !
Question Author
Mikey, //I would hate to die under a Tory Government !//

What difference would it make? Dead is dead.
" dead is dead" not if Mikey believes in incarnation ?.
Question Author
anneasquith, ....or even reincarnation. ;o)
Yes, the Tories will inevitably run out of steam as they all do eventually, BUT I feel it will be a long, long time away and Labour does not have a chance for the foreseeable future. I have no idea who I will vote for in another election!
Labour are a disaster everywhere. Labour-controlled Birmingham is the only council in the country to be under constant government monitoring because of poor performance etc etc etc
Says he will still be the leader of the Labour Party in 2020 and ready to form a government.Poor deluded soul.
I'd love to see a coalition of the Labour Party and UKIP just to see mikey go right around the bend. Lol.
Labour are a very embarrassing disaster full of loony-tunes with no creditable leader to nominate. Their deluded thick supporters are in total denial, useless idiots or is it useful idiots?. Idiots, low educated fools
I think 'finishing the job' means restoring Labour to it's core socialist principles and ejecting the Blairite weasels and fifth columnists.

The fact that this will make Labour forever unelectable is of no concern to him, that much is clear.
He doesn't want to be Prime Minister. He is happy to be the adored (by party members only) leader of what will effectively be just a large pressure and protest group.

Meanwhile back in the real world of ordinary working people outside the Westminster bubble, too busy just trying to pay the bills and stay healthy to indulge in political power struggles, game playing and placard waving this is all quite disappointing.

We would like to see some kind of credible opposition in place rather than bunch of hapless self serving amateurs.

..I mean just look at this paranoid nonsense here :-

..obsessed by their internal power struggles. It's farcical.
