Ned, yes i supported the war against the taliban in Afghanistan ( i saw the horrors of the taliban in Afghanistan first hand) and was in favour of removing saddam if that is what my govt told me they were going to do. Not that WMD malarkey.
Vinny I am a hindu....cant see the relevance

Hi Dom Tuk,
I didn't mean to imply that I thought waging war is being used as a diversionary tactic. I meant that instead of discussing all the factors which brought the USA to where it is today and building a comprehensive approach to tackle these problems, the government under the Bush administration will just forge ahead with their "plans", using the most patronising and pre-school rhetoric ever heard by a President, to justify them.
I appreciate what you are saying Dom and I agree that we can't stop terrorists being based in certain countries even our own (as per the israel incidents) but IMHO, I believe that the Syrian government were responsible for the killing of ex-lebanese leader hariri and probably many more state sponsored terrorist activities.

this article is just one of many that complicates are very complex lebanese political scenario. Furthermore as a direct upshot of all this isnt Syria taking its forces out??
I don't know how to feel about AB editor voicing an opinion...
For some reason I can't stop thinking of The Terminator.
The Answerbank funding bill is passed. The system goes on-line August 4th, 2000. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Answerbank begins to learn, at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 11:19 a.m. BST, October 19...
It's all pretty scary.
Pre-emptive strikes on Iran is the way forward. The West do have a moral right to rule the world because we are free thinking and democratic. Any country that is under the head of some evil religion deserves to be policed by the West.
And besides the threat of nuclear capability, the fact oil rules the worlds fiscal policy, I see no problems with that.
Did anyone see this - I find it troubling. It is becoming very 'murky' over there. Islamic militants after another war? Iranian government after justification for increasing isolationism? UK/US government after provocation? I would say the first but that is a bit of a shot in the dark.
Some crackers today, WM!
I thought the following were particular well observed satire: "The West do have a moral right to rule the world because we are free thinking and democratic." Class!
"Any country that is under the head of some evil religion deserves to be policed by the West." Arf! Good one!"
Keep it up; you brighten my days.
greeno well put dear sir. Totally agree with you, and don't be bothered about upsetting folk. This is an adult debate and if we all had the same ideology it would be dull.
waldo the frog prince. I am glad I amuse you. I hope you are serious as I do have an ego.
surfer Mike Love. I am not a wind up merchant. I am a liberal with a few right ideas, both political and in the "correct" sense.
One thing I do not know the answer to is what is Iraq's view on Iran now?
I know in 1991 they still hated eachother over the old war but then that calmed down.
All the talk of Jihad probably linked the evil fanatics worldwide. But what is the general opinion now? Would Iraq help the good West to bomb Iran?
