Nigel Farage: 'I'd probably stand in Thanet by-election'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-39249698

Its looking like the Tories won the Thanet South by-election by fiddling with the election expenses, so we could see Our Nigel back again

I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about. Do you think that spending a few quid over the odds affects the result? To call it fraud is ludicrous.
You should do what I suspect Gromit did, mikey.
Watch the whole interview and quietly withdraw.
Mikey, are you saying that the Cons have been conning again OMG!.

Gulliver....yes I know, its difficult to think its possible but its increasingly looking that way !

You would have thought that after Archer, Aitken and co, they would have thought better.

// You should do what I suspect Gromit did, and quietly withdraw. //

And I suggest you watch the programme again as you have clearly forgot it or did not understand it.

Farage quickly dismissed the Cardwell allegation. He said he didn't believe a dossier even existed. In any case, if a UKIP member passed on information to the Tories, then that isn't fraud, and would not cause the election to be re-run. A re-run would only occur due to the battle bus expenses fraud, and it was that scenario that Farage was answering the question about standing again.

Gromit......The in-fighting between Carswell and Farage is one of the more amusing and entertaining aspects of UKIP's fast demise into farce .....may it continue for a while yet.

By the way, has anybody heard anything from Nuttall recently ? Since he lost the Stoke By-Election, he has been strangely silent.

A Labour supporting ABer has the gall to talk about 'in-fighting' LMAO
Question Author
AOG....UKIP only has one MP.

It seems foolish in the extreme for an Ex-Leader to fall out in such a spectacular fashion with its only representative in the House,
Nothing new seems like Labour are not squeaky clean when it comes to fraud.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/05/16/labour-facing-questions-over-election-expenses/

And talk about the expense scandle:

/// There is an overwhelming likelihood that it is indeed statistically significant that only Labour MPs have been found guilty as a result of the expenses investigation. Labour members of the House of Commons need to face up to the uncomfortable truth. The outcome of the Telegraph investigation strongly suggests they are much more likely to lie, cheat and steal than members of other parties. Now that the expenses scandal has drawn to a close, they urgently need to ask themselves why that should be. ///

AOG...interesting but not germane to this discussion about a Party fiddling its elections expenses.
mikey4444

Better to fall out when they are not MPs, rather than fall out with each other, when as members of the UK's opposition party, they should be showing togetherness against their arch enemies.
Mikey, you’re happy for us to fall out with the Russians, or with President Trump, but you feel that Farage falling out with the sole UKIP MP- which makes little difference to anyone – is ‘foolish in the extreme’. You do have a wonky way of looking at the world. Thank God you’re not a politician!
I can't see Carswell lasting until the next election. The leader, ex-leader and chief donor all want rid of him.

He will either return to the Tories, or become an Independent.

Either way, not a great result for UKIP.
To be fair, Nigel did say that everything, absolutely everything, was thrown at him in Thanet to ensure a Tory victory - but accepted the defeat and didn't challenge it. I hope he is given a by-election - if he won Carswell would be interesting to watch!
Welcome back Nige ....

Most people on here will know that I am far from being a fan of Farage. But if he was denied a proper chance in Thanet South, then he deserves a second chance. I am nothing if not fair !

MP Craig Mackinlay quizzed over election expenses

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-39271625
Well, if the allegations are true - and there is obviously enough stuff for them to be investigated seriously - then the seat should, in all honesty, be awarded to the, near in count, 2nd. i.e. Nigel, without going to the expense of another election (which could be undermined by more subtle fraud).

I'd have given this answer no matter what party came second, by the way.
^^ Yes, I know I said 'have a by-election' - but then I thought about expense and cheating......and changed my mind. If I am wrong the first time then I am not daft enough to stick with a position I now feel to be false.
On the subject of the runner-up winning the seat the case of Tony Benn is interesting.
