In 1940 we had lost a whole army's materiel - altho the army was back in dear old blighty - some were throwing their arms out of the troop trains and saying "the Germans are coming!"

His speech has been called Churchillian but Churchill did not say we will stand united while you continue to destroy us, he said we shall fight

What he said was just as powerful, as what was said all those years ago, and he should be applauded for so doing, not nit-picking.
