I partly agree with TTT. I think anyone responsible for electing a member off the government should have some experience of life as an adult.

but as pointed out they have a vested interest in their future. Had 16, 17 old's been allowed the EU referendum vote, i reckon we would have stayed in.
You can vote until you die, no upper age limit!
Possibly the most influential of age groups are us pensioners.
Been there done it got the T shirt sums us up!
TTT...nonsense.

Eddie i know, but someone suggested it should be 15-65 age range?
Never a good idea to give kiddies a vote in parliamentary elections. The idea is as insane as the individuals who keep suggesting it.
They aren't kids.
You can get married at 16!
They most certainly are. Hey why not give foetuses the vote as it's their future and have enough experience of life to make sensible decisions.
Yes and that's bad enough, but due to physical maturity, sometimes considered necessary.
No they aren't kids.
What a ridiculous reply - 16/17 year olds are most definitely not 'kiddies'.

Ummmm is right , some may not be a tiny bit interested in politics or voting but others are very keen and would.
bonk - they can bonk at 16 dont forget
and voting well it seems less fraught with consequences innit
"...after all as they said you can have a child legally age 16, join the army, drink at home, so why not the vote."

But you can't leave school. I can't see any justification for allowing schoolchildren the vote. Anyway, it's unfair on the rest of us to have the polls skewed by a bunch of people that still know everything.
what kid waits until they are 16 to bonk?
Peter, spot on.
the teens I met were very vocal about Brexit
especially the bit about oldies voting only in their narrow self- interest

oldies taking a short term view of a longterm issue .....

(my fambly was not alone in fact in asking the young'uns how we should vote and then going out and block-voting. It didnt work)
in 1979 we had a youngest muvver contest
and I was the loser at 14 1/2
lots of colleagues had mid-thirteens which meant they (les gurlz that is) had to have been 'at it' at twelve.

That's quite new though, NJ. My 2 older kids left school at 16. The youngest had to stay on until 18 and is still there. I would have gave him the vote at 16...but not the other two.
give it a rest most saucepans these days rarely avert their gaze from the dog. Gawd elp the net generation.
Maybe the kids you know. Not true for all of them.
