Ba Flight Disruption At Heathrow Set For Third Day

Still complete confusion at our Airports....1000's of people sleeping on the floor, with no support visible from BA.

BA are refusing to give much in the way of details, but it is looking increasingly that out-sourcing IT to India was a grave mistake, and all to save money ! ts been said on the BBC today that this chaos is the worst "accident" to the IT of any airline, anywhere.

BA needs to pull its finger out and quick.

Have they not supplied the customers with hotels and food? I watched an interview with one man who managed to book a Virgin flight but no mention of compensation. Not everyone can afford to do that though.

Would you prefer that they continue to pay overpriced staff and eventually sink!!
The point that I am trying to make and that you are have chosen to ignore Mikey is that it does not matter what caused this and you don't need to know what caused it - what matters now is that BA gets the people to where they are going, compensate those that can't and sorts the issue out.
What difference does it make to you what caused the problem in the first place!

I know of a case where vital medication was in luggage..enough for 24 hours in hand luggage..and no offer of help to retrieve said medication..not good...a lesson learned to keep ALL such in hand luggage though

Nothing wrong with outsourcing as long as you ensure there is a back up system. BA obviously did not do that!

You cannot travel with certain medications in hand luggage though unless you have a full doctors script and a doctors letter.

I don't think hotels etc have been offered gratis Ummmm..as you say how many could afford the additional expense after saving all year anyway ..

anyone using such medication..as dad did..knows that anyway Islay and has or can get that documentation...just unfortunate that on this occasion that was not the case..then it is an unexpected scenario...

I would want to know what went wrong. It would make me think twice before using them again.

I have flown with them long haul several times and would do again without doubt.

Just not possible to find Hotels for that number of people, there is a major shortage of hotel rooms near Heathrow and Gatwick even at normal times.

I used BA regularly when flitting back and forth to Germany as a WAG....they lost my luggage alarmingly often ! not my first choice of carrier !

I am retired BA IT person. I still have many friends at BA in IT. They are English and based at head quarters in Waterside. BA have NOT outsourced all of their IT to India. Most of the work outsourced was software development. The current issue was caused by a power supply problem according to the CEO. So don't go blaming outsourcing when you don't know the full details. By the way I am due to fly BA on holiday on Thursday. Am I concerned? No.

according to media reports today, BA are likely to claim this event as "force majeur" - which is probably why nothing is being said, as there is a substantial compensation saving to be made. this those who have shelled out hundreds in the last few days will indeed have been abandoned.

No reasonable individual can agree that an utter failure to install robust backed up systems is unavoidable. Unless it is unavoidable when one is lumbered with crepe management/board.
