Interesting to note, further down the feed, that May was "told" by the 1922 Committee to go on TV and apologise to MPs who lost their seats, having said nothing about it at all over the night or when she announced her intention to form a government -- and that there are rumours that if she didn't sack these two aides then she may well have faced a serious challenge to her leadership.

What a wonderful winning feeling she must be having right now.

It's sad for the country that her decision to go to the country (which had my support) has achieved the opposite of its intended result. Her position as leader of her party and representative of her country in Europe seems to me compromised beyond repair. I share the "kindly leave the stage" sentiment of the first two posters, but without their seemingly...

"If I lose just six seats I will lose this election." -- Theresa May.
You might like to believe she won a majority of seats, naomi, but she didn't. Can't think of another way to explain it to you.

Lots of Bad Losers about atm
I didn't say she won the majority of seats, Krom. She won the election - and all the sour grapes in the world won't change that. Sorry to disappoint.
Question Author
Agreed, Balders -- shame that one of them insists on sticking around anyway.
She won more seats than any other party but not a majority, no. She is fatally wounded and must go. This reminds me of Heath in 1974. He could not see the writing on the wall either.
Not that I'm worried about them, but what will TM's former aides do now? Their CVs wouldn't look all that great.
Jim, // shame that one of them insists on sticking around anyway. //

Where are your brains? If she's so bad, by sticking around she's doing your cause a favour ..... unless of course you don't think she's so bad but you're just saying it for effect. ;o)
Do you believe it's possible for a PM to be illegitimate? Or is everyone who occupies that office by default a winner?

She has clung on to power by a sordid deal with religious lunatics. Who voted for that?
Question Author
You must think so little of me if you think that I'd prefer a weak PM to stay in power when that inevitably means that the country is damaged. Weak and feeble governments do no-one any favours.
Naomi....has it ever occurred to you that people like Jim.....and me for that matter, though it's not my country....might just want a good leadership for the country.....and that's why we want May to go?
Krom, of course she won - she got more votes than anyone else.

//Who voted for that?//

Being of a philosophical nature, particularly where politics is concerned, all I can say is be careful what you wish for. ;o)
Question Author
So, what do you say to Theresa May's quote above then? By her own standard, she lost.
If you're going to say she won because of the vote numbers, then about 60% of people didn't vote Tory...

You're all over the place tonight. Time for bed I think.
gness, it occurs to me, but rather than be influenced by someone who is good at rallying the masses (mentioning no names but lots of people have done that in the past with disastrous results), I look at the bigger picture. I want good government.

Ah, of course! I forget that Theresa May never actually means what she says.

Duh, should have thought of that.
Jim, I expect she's disappointed. Nevertheless, she is still Prime Minister.

Krom, that's silly.. Sixty per cent - and more - didn't vote Labour either. I expected better of you. Sleep well.
I'm not claiming Labour won though.
Jim, poor response. That's what's called grasping at straws. She won.
