He would never have been able to give assurances that it would be a silent rally as he could not have the level of control or guarantee adherence to discipline.
It had disaster written all over it from the outset.
Protesting against 'hate 'and showing 'unity'?
How ironic....

I was reading the comments posted on a BBC link to the rally story. Many of the comments objected to the BBC heading saying they were at the march and they were not EDL just normal people wanting to be heard ... the BBC pulled the story.
Andy Burnham... was basically saying if you were at the march (UK Against Hate) you were an EDL type.
Antifa ....
Why can't these so called 'anti-facists' stay away?
They never counter protest extreme Muslims when they march for sharia and death to the police
hereIam - //I like Tommy Robinson, he just wants to halt the progress of muslim radicalisation and protect us from the ones who want us dead, not his fault if some of the protestors are not the full shilling ! //
I think it is entirely his fault.
My problem with people People like ‘Tommy Robinson’ is their colossal arrogance in imagining that they are the people do ‘defend’ the UK.
As evidence shows, the notion of vigilante-ist groups like this is that they attract hooligan elements who bring beer and treat any sort of rally as an excuse of a day out, a *** up, and a ruck with opposition if they are around, and the police if they are not.
When I want ‘defending’, I will call on appropriate people to do the job, not some self-righteous loud mouth and friends who take it upon themselves to act on my behalf, and cause trouble and violence doing it.

Just googled it. Looks like there is truth in it.

Andy > I wonder what 'Tommy Robinson' planned to do if the door had been answered?
We will never know but it would have been an interesting scenario.
Maybe he would have charged him (and not in the policing way!)
Seriously, he took a big gamble in thinking that it would have been a silent rally.
Some would say he cannot be held responsible for the actions of others but his words in advance were suggestive that it is up to the people to take action.
I think he needs to think again about how he can best utilise his experiences.
