This is the main reason why I, along with millions of others, voted for Brexit, it makes me sick to the stomach, why do they want to get to the UK, its a simple question and has a simple answer ....... We are a soft touch, they know that they'll get all the help they need when they eventually get here, once here a vast majority destroy their passports so that they cannot be deported, they get caught working, or without a valid visa and then they're released on police bail and asked to report back in a few weeks, what happens, they fail to show up and get lost in the crowd!
Stop all help, housing, benefits, etc etc for migrants and they may think twice about wanting to come here!
France should do more to help the crisis, get the army on to them, keep moving them on, no camps etc.
"The only threats of violence I have ever been treated to were from home grown thugs....and the last one involved a knife."

Blimey MallyJ - where do you live so I can make a point of not visiting?

I have lived in London for most of my life, including Lewisham and Deptford, and have never experienced any threats of violence - perhaps I've just been lucky.
Don't worry, Macron the new French, & Ardent Europhile !!, President, whose party looks set to win 75% of all the parliamentary seats in France has said that if the UK leaves the EU the arrangement where the UK / EU border is at Calais ''will needto be reviewed''
So he is intending to just ship them all to Dover!!
This is the man who would not allow the French national anthem to be played at his inauguration ceremony and insisted that the EU anthem was played instead!
ferry bosses will just have to vet every person allowed on board, change ferry ports to another country, surely it cannot be that hard.
Deskdiary..oddly the knife incident was in Clapham before it got posh....and another in Northants. I worked in Southwark for years and never a problem...when I did a soup run the only unpleasantness came from drunken British youths and the police!
I fail to see the point of 'home grown' thugs raised every time.

Surely if we have so many of our own why on earth would we want to import some more?
it's ok mikey, cos we can get 10000 plods for £3.50 according to Labourithmetic!
Now now TTT, you know maths is not Mickeys strong point either.
TTT....lol !

But I keep being told on here, that we don't really need those 20,000 police anyway.
Who says that, Mikey, I've never read it.
I thought Amin Trouvé-Baghdouche must be a satirical invention, but no - apparently he's the real-life "Doctors of the World coordinator for northern France".

Other players in this life imitating art drama "a retired four-star general who once headed the Foreign Legion" Gen. Christian Piquemal, arrested for taking part in a demo, and founder of a "p****d off burghers group called "Calasiens en Colère" Sandrine Desert.
We will need all the police and more if the new French President goes ahead with is threat to return the UK / EU border to Dover!
That means all the migrants at Calais are automatically able to travel to the EU border ( Dover) with no way to stop them!
^ Plus once we leave the EU we will have an open unguarded land border with the EU , Northern Ireland Irish Republic, for the first time in history! Think how easy it will be for anyone to slip across that border unseen ! Once they are in NI they can travel to mainland UK very easily much more easy than trying to get across the channel!
“The only threats of violence I have ever been treated to were from home grown thugs…”

Lucky old you. I used to travel through Calais three or four times a year. The last time I did so – about four years ago now - I was in the port awaiting my ferry home when the port area was invaded by four or five hundred would-be migrants intent on storming a ferry. The ferries had to be backed away from the ramps and those in the port were subject to threats and intimidation. I feared greatly for the safety of our party. I haven’t been there since which is a great pity as I quite enjoyed the town.

France cannot “get to grips” with this problem so long as they are Schengen signatories. That agreement gives free rein to anybody who gains a foothold in Europe to roam all over the border-free area. The miscreants cannot be deported because they never have any papers which suggest where they may be deported to. Anybody who thinks this is Daily Mail hype should take a day trip to Calais and have a look round. It ain’t very pretty.

We’ve done all this before, Eddie. Migrants will be no more able to board ferries without papers than they currently are able to board aircraft. It will be the ferry companies’ responsibility to ensure that clandestines do not embark their vessels and, since it will cost them £2,000 a throw for every one that sneaks through, their minds will be more concentrated than those of the Border Service. Also bear in mind that the "Le Touquet Agreement" (which provides for juxtaposed border controls in the UK and France) is a bilateral agreement between those two countries. It has nothing to do with the EU and nothing to do with Brexit.
//That means all the migrants at Calais are automatically able to travel to the EU border ( Dover) with no way to stop them! //

You have to wonder how they "get" to Dover. Plus who says the frogs set the border at Dover. We set it at Calais, and up yours Dolores.
Mikey that is exactly what Macron the new French president suggests he wants to do!
New Judge and others put up objections , bilateral arrangement , not to do with the EU and the rest but Macon is expected to get a huge majority in the French election and he sees it as getting rid of a problem and a way to 'punish' the UK for leaving the EU all in one!
It would be immensely popular with the French electorate!
Togo it has already been suggested by many French MP's that France simply charters a few ships and offloads the entire refugee problem on to us.
The only problem is that at the moment the UK / EU border is in Calais
but as I said, Macron sees a way to end that once we leave the EU!
Eddie, if thats the case we simply fine the ferries £100k per migrant that makes it to our shores for failure to have proper border controls and allow illegal migrants in to the uk.

Im pretty sure the ferry companies will kick up a fuss.

Dave.
Eddie, you’re scaremongering again.
I think Eddie makes it up as he goes along.
