People talk about " cost- cutting", "it would only have cost £5000 more to clad the building in a better material", etc. but this misses the point. There is no way on earth that "flammable"...

" - well if they made it and claimed it was fire retardant then yes but in reality it will be a cost decision by the builder et al. What I cannot fathom is that no one seems to be looking at how this place got a fire certificate, that stinks to high heaven. Might as well have coated the place in straw.

ummmm, as I recall, the manufacturer of the cladding gave an interview last week in which he said they did two sort of cladding, one less flammable than the other, but the people doing the work wanted the cheaper, more dangerous one.
It seems as though practices need looking at over the whole country. I don't know if regulations were broken, or if building standards were just never adequate in the first place.
