I'm saddened and shocked and in cases like this where you act like an animal the punishment should be like those for a wild killer animal, the words "Sharia law" spring to mind and if you're far right or an islamaphobe replace the word "Sharia" with "Medieval" as those muslims sure know how to meat out justice where we tickle our criminals with cotton wool gloves and "Balsa wood" sentences

237SJ > but I would be quite happy to see it brought back for mass terrorism.

You are perfectly entitled to hold whatever opinion you like.

I would say that it would not be right to bring back CP under certain conditions only.

For instance, supporting it for terrorists and maybe murdering a member of the police/armed forces etc, as opposed to joe bloggs.

Murder is murder and it should not be dependent on the volume of victims or how sensitised we are i.e murder of a child or OAP or a certain profession.
I think it might be a good idea to keep it 'on the books'. May give some people pause for thought about self-preservation before acting.
^ Yes I am, considering there are people who would love to blow me up every time I go to work and I live with that threat all of the time. The thing is, nowadays we have a different type of terrorist. We have people who are willing to give their lives and the lives of those around them for their cause. They are completely brainwashed. If they are inprisoned, they are not going to be rehabilitated. They will come out of prison as dangerous as they were when they went in. There is not a finite amount of people who are like that - the situation is ongoing. As far as I am concerned, they should be removed from this world so that they can not do any more damage.
I should imagine our already stretched court system would be burdened further with appeals.
So what? That's cheaper than giving an unreformed terrorist food and board for 20 years.
> there are people who would love to blow me up every time I go to work and I live with that threat all of the time....

You could be in the wrong place at the wrong time anywhere. It doesn't have to be a terrorist.
In my case, it probably would be
^ I'm bemused!
^Aviation. Gone are the days when hijackers said "Take me to Beirut"
As Ag says, anyone of us could be in the wrong place place, strolling across a bridge, browsing in a mall, atteending a concert - but each are allowed to their views.

We don't have to agree.
Mamya - some people feel more vulnerable than others. All about perspective.

People who have certain professions or where they live are factors but my point all along here is that I am not in favour of bringing back CP for only certain murders.

In fact, I'm not in favour of CP in any event.
^Nobody said we do.
237SJ - would you extend CP to all murderers or just terrorists?
I understand fearfulness.
^ Sorry but no you don't
How can you tell someone that they don't know "fearfulness". It comes in many forms
If that reply was to me 237SJ - how on earth could you possibly know what I understand?

I'm sorry that comes over as arrogant - I do not second guess your feelings and have stated you are entitled to your opinions - a lot of people share them.

If your reply wasn't to me then obviously ignore.
Sorry - I mean in the sphere that I was talking about
I shall accept your apology of course.

However I will add you know nothing of my family in that regard - we must beware of leaping to judgement.
237SJ - //So what? That's cheaper than giving an unreformed terrorist food and board for 20 years.//

If you want to bring the cessation of a human life down to the cost - then why stop there? Let's do away with mentally and physically handicapped people - they don't contribute, and are a drain on the state.

If it costs me as a tax payer money to incarcerate a criminal, then that's fine with me - if I thought that people are being murdered to economic reasons, then I would be chilled to the bone.
