“…wander to somewhere along the route of the march. You'll both be very welcome and have an excellent time. :o)” Two or three years ago I was unfortunate enough to be “somewhere along the route of the march”, not wandering but trying to go about my business. I’m not sure whether or not I was welcome (I would like to hope I was not). This was because my...

NJ.....Your are robust in your arguments.....and that's good....who wants it otherwise...as a rule you are robust and polite...
Your offerings are usually informative and interesting.....I have never said otherwise.....even if I don't agree with them...agreeing with each other would be dull.....
My only disappointment with your original post was that the words you used to describe those of us taking part in the parade were rude, untrue and hurtful to some.......and to be honest I would have expected you to make a better and more considered argument for your experience on that day.....

/// I'm so pleased my 84 yr old FIL is more open minded and tolerant than some on here and enjoys the friendship of his gay retired clergyman friend. ///
No one has said that they despise gays so much that they would never have one as a friend.
I myself know a few gays and we get along fine, but then they are not forever thrusting their gayness at me, and neither do I thrust the fact that I am heterosexual at them.
Neither would they also want to parade around the streets dressed in pink hotpants.

I think you will find that it is not "'Gentlemen of a certain age' who go around 'Gay Bashing' but young thugs, so perhaps you and your like should be condemning the young rather than constantly telling us that they are more acceptable towards gays, and leave the old alone, who just happen to be against 'some' gays who wish to flaunt themselves at ever opportunity, but would never dream of doing them harm.
