Two teenagers carried out 5 acid attacks in about 90 minutes last night in north London. Seems they were targeting random people on the street and robbing them.

How on earth could they have gotten their hands on such a potent acid?

They may get bail, bail is normally granted unless there are specific reasons why it should not be .

The charge is GBH s18 and as that is a serious charge it is possible they will be remanded rather than given bail.
The Police appear to be making some progress :::::

Vile attacks and worryingly on the increase.
This is so, so scary and if they are on the rise, anybody could be attacked. I think really strong sentences should be given for such attacks, but am I whistling in the wind ???
you can buy bleach in any store, and its not difficult to purchase acid according to the police reports.
Yes , Bleach or Household Ammonia solution is just as bad and it is hardly likely they will ban the sale of them. The point I am trying to make is that getting hold of liquids that will do this sort of damage is almost impossible to stop.
As they have been charged with GBH S18 it is going to be a prison sentence. S18 is always a prison sentence, it is only one step down from attempted murder!
Scary. Cazenove Road is just round the corner from where I used to live. Something else that makes me glad I got out of London.
heard on the News the police have a 15 and a 16 yr old in custody.
Am wondering if 'someone' has put them up to this as surely, at those ages, they won't be doing maximum time if they were an adult?

Fagin springs to mind
Apparently it's not an offence to possess so those gangs who stab each other as a pastime (4000+ stabbings in London last year) have taken it up, as have muggers - nice.
Alba - the age of criminal responsibility in England (don't know about the rest of the UK) is 10 years old.
Those under 16 when an offence is committed are subject to different rules under law, remember the row about the 'murderer' who could not be named due to being only 15 when they committed the offence?
The same will apply to the 15 year old in this case. They can not be named unless a Judge decides that the rule can be broken. Very unlikely in a high profile case such as this!
