AOG takes the bits that favour his point, but they are not necessarily wrong. He simpy missed out the other parts, something the left on here often do!
Eddie; //I do sometimes wonder if some on here have ever read a history book!// Well. I've read one or two.
One of the largest group of immigrants into Britain was the Huguenots (French Protestants facing persecution) who began arriving in England around 1670, but then population of Britain was around 5 million, there were no benefits or social housing for them, and they brought many welcome skills to the country and worked hard, in fact the industry in east London was founded by Huguenot refugees.
This was a far cry from what we are witnessing today, would you not agree?
^ Then you will have read that as soon as Europeans settled in places such as Australia, New Zealand,North/South America the first thing they did was to seize land from and kill as many of the indigenous population as possible ?
Khandro Yes I fully agree with the comments about the Huguenots.
It was the beginning of the end of Catholic domination of England.
Were it not for them the head of the Christian church in the UK would be The Pope.
IMO, they come here because we are an easy touch, benefits, housing, health care, education, etc all laid on for them, a lot of them destroy passports, ID cards etc so that they cannot be deported, they are arrested but then released by the police and told to report back, and what happens, they lose themselves in the crowd and move on!

Eddie, //......... Huguenots.... It was the beginning of the end of Catholic domination of England.// Sorry to be pedantic, but I'm afraid you are well over a century out. England rid itself of Papal domination by the 1534 Act of Supremacy, which declared that Henry VIII the "Supreme Head on earth of the Church of England", and was reaffirmed by Elizabeth completely, in 1559.
Traffickers actually tell would-be migrants that they will be given a free house and benefits if they come to Europe, especially the UK. Many of these would-be migrants will have learned English in school, so they see Britain as the place they are most likely to settle and better themselves.
Which country (among some others) was more than happy to try to rule the world, displacing many indigenous people, stealing the riches[i that those countries held, decimating the original population, transporting their great unwashed and unwanted then were silly enough to open there borders to all that wished to be in their country.
Are you saying that because people who are no longer on the planet who came from a particular place on the planet did bad things ... the people now on the planet from said place should shut up and accept whatever happens now as some sort of punishment?
I thank you for your input regarding my comment Talbot.
//Your post is a nonsense, Ozzy. //
If you are unable to grasp what has happened throughout history and now wish to complain that the same thing is happening in reverse but can't understand why I don't quite know how to reply without insulting you unintentionally.
Throughout the history of mankind one tribe has always tried to out-muscle another and take control.
It's hard to accept when on the receiving end.but it boils down to the decisions made by ones government these days.
The indigenous of the overrun countries in the past had no say in the matter.
England in the current climate did and as such made its own bed to lay in.
