Trump would appear to be a climate-change denier !
Would any of Trump's dwindling band of groupies, here on AB, like to comment ?

Trump has asserted that it is a hoax in public, on his own twitter feed and elsewhere, multiple times. http:// www. snopes. com/ donald- trump- global- warming- hoax/ Trump "says he is open to a climate deal"? Well, he says lots of things. The man is a liar.

Also Trump cites the economy a number of times to justify measures that transparently have much less to do with costs than Trump makes out. The transgender military ban was one such... "Our military ...cannot be burdened with the overwhelming medical costs" of transgender troops, he said -- but those costs are something like $10 million a year, which is about 0.02% of the total US military healthcare budget (and one tenth of what's spent on Viagra). So he was spinning there (as well).

Let me put it this way, Naomi: if Trump *weren't* clearly a climate change denier/massive sceptic, then would he have had quite such enthusiasm for the economic arguments? Which, it seems, are without any evidence I'm aware of. Where does he get the figure that it will cost the US millions of jobs, or trillions of dollars? And, if neither of those figures has any basis in evidence, then what was he saying them for in the first place?
Climate change denier or man-made climate change denier ? the difference is what it's all about; yesterday on another thread jim elegantly pointed out the movement variations of the planet in relation to time measurement, to this can be added the variations of climate, which happen with or without man's interference.
Zacs, at 08:18 you told Jim I can’t answer the question. What are you talking about?
Jim, //Where does he get the figure that it will cost the US millions of jobs, or trillions of dollars? And, if neither of those figures has any basis in evidence, then what was he saying them for in the first place?//
No idea if the figures have any basis in evidence and it’s likely that you don’t either.

I'm not leading the world's largest economy out of a global climate agreement, though. I've tried to find the evidence for Trump's figures but have come up short so far. However, if you believe that's what is motivating him, I guess my question is -- shouldn't you be sure? Or are you just taking him as an honest person who clearly has the best interests of the US at heart and therefore there's no need to check how factual his statements are?
Khandro -- I believe you're thinking (indirectly) of the Milankovitch cycles. Thing is, they operate on timescales of tens of thousands of years, so aren't relevant for Climate change variations on timescales of decades and centuries.
