Trump would appear to be a climate-change denier !
Would any of Trump's dwindling band of groupies, here on AB, like to comment ?

Trump has asserted that it is a hoax in public, on his own twitter feed and elsewhere, multiple times. http:// www. snopes. com/ donald- trump- global- warming- hoax/ Trump "says he is open to a climate deal"? Well, he says lots of things. The man is a liar.

Jim; The fluctuations are a lot quicker than that, NASA claim the between 1998 and 2008 there was no warming at all and some statistics show that since then the planet is actually cooling

I hope the "his" is meant to be Trump's style of debate rather than mine, ZM...
Naomi, I can only go on what I see from Trump and what I read into what he's doing and the research I've done behind that. At best, I am sure that Trump thinks that is doing has the US's interests at heart, but being honest and wrong is still to be wrong.
Besides, the Paris Climate Agreement was about trying to put the world's interests ahead of national ones. I don't think it entirely achieved that, but any effort to combat man-made Climate Change requires nations to put national interests second to global ones.

Those aren't variations in Earth's orbit, though, Khandro, which is what I thought you were referring to earlier. El Nino's also a rather huge factor, and yes, natural effects have an impact, but... well, look, I've done this argument before, you've ignored it before, there's a limit to how much I can repeat what I said before. It's a signal-to-background problem. Natural effects make a (large) background, and human effects make the signal, and it is possible to extract the signal from the background and see the effect that human activity has led to in recent Climate trends.
That's not what I meant, as I'm sure you know really. I was just borrowing your metaphor ironically in the first place; if I meant anything by it then I meant "Pull the knife out of my pocket" or something.
If you believe Trump's motivated by the economy, and in particular if you are going to defend him based on that, then it seems worth checking that his claims about the economic effects of Paris are true. If you aren't going to do that, it's your choice, but it does give your defences of Trump rather little weight.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, you've said all that before. It would be a noble statement if your support were seen to be worth anything but constantly sticking up for someone who constantly makes himself the justified target of ridicule, makes it a fatuous remark.
There is no witch hunt, merely criticism of a man who clearly has no idea what it takes to be a president.
