jeez, would someone please tell them the result of the referendum?
The people have been asked and they've answered.
so you think a party may be formed of those that are willing to ignore the democratic will of the majority then mikey? that would include quite a lot of the Labour party too, dream on!

TTT...its not what I believe, but even Rees-Mogg said that the Tories were only "broadly united"
yes but you seem to be ignoring the fact that an estmated 65% of the Labour party are also remoaners. Would they not be keen to join such a party, presumably formed with the sole purpose of trying to get their own way regardless of democracy?
Blair stated his intention of forming a Centre Party until he found out that nobody was interested.
"He has called for a new party - called the Democrats - to oppose Brexit."

I'm sure there's the possibility of pointing out the irony in that name somewhere...

The country voted to leave the EU, and currently that's the direction the Government is pursuing. There's no question that this is the right approach. But why is it so threatening to democracy to argue that, if it turns out that Brexit is bad for the country, the Government should be free to say, "this isn't working," and change direction accordingly?

Not least, in the wake of the General Election, when Theresa May specifically asked for a mandate for her vision of Brexit, and the country did not give her that mandate? Having some flexibility is important.

In practice I am not convinced that Brexit will be "bad enough" for the UK to pull out at the eleventh hour, but it is perhaps surprising that Leave Voters seem either to not allow for the possibility that it could be, or don't even care if it were or not.

TTT....like the age of the people voting in the Referendum, we have no real idea of what Party they voted for either. Its all only an estimate.

But it seems to me that the Tories are more at sea over Brexit, than the Labour Party. There doesn't appear to be an equivalent movement to start a new party of the Left.
Jim: "But why is it so threatening to democracy to argue that, if it turns out that Brexit is bad for the country, the Government should be free to say, "this isn't working," and change direction accordingly? " - we must leave, we cannot base not leaving on no data. Of course, in the future(say 25 years) re joining may be considered, if the conditions at the time are favourable to the electorate, though I rather doubt the EU will survive very long. The cracks are appearing all the time and I suggest in 25 years time we may well have a Europe of allies simply cooperating for the common good rather than the present assimilation "project".

Jim...are you sure that "currently that's the direction the Government is pursuing"

I know its August and all that, but the Tories don't seem to be making much, if any, progress on the Brexit negotiations. The clock is ticking but we still seem to be as far from any successful conclusion, as we were on June 24th 2016.
oh dam then mikey we'll just have to stay in!
Question Author
TTT....there is a growing suspicion that we never leave !
I'm not sure they are pursuing it very effectively, but that's not the same thing.

Jim....David Davies seems to me to be just a paper tiger.

My suspicion is that May chose him, because she knows that he will make a dogs breakfast over it, and she can blame him when it all goes pear-shaped.
I can't see any split happening while they hold on to power.
//My suspicion is that May chose him, because she knows that he will make a dogs breakfast over it, and she can blame him when it all goes pear-shaped.//

Heseltine gave an interview with Business Insider the other day, and confirmed that this was essentially the plan of the Tory leadership. Let Davis/Gove/Johnson have the control over the policy, let them hang if it fails, and take credit if it doesn't.
several people seem to believe that mikey (11:01) but no one seems to have any idea of how that would come about.

Kromo....hanging on by their finger tips !

Its my best guess that come the Autumn, there will be an attempt to stab Mrs May in the back. Like Caesar, the first blow will be followed immediately by a torrent of blows.
We should put Jeremy in charge of Brexit. As a staunch Brexiteer, he’d do it right. ;o)

But that is the heart of the problem. Apart from one lone voice, who has recently changed jobs to be a DJ !, all Parties campaigned to stay, not least of all the Tories.

None of them wanted the result that came about.
There is only one answer, lets have a second referendum ,
but this time without Boris Blakey and his" Bus of lies ," then see what the result is , but this time send Boris out of the UK to a far distant land and let him play at Foreign Secretary.
