Naomi - // We have organisations supporting and lauding black/Asian people and their achievements, whereas organisations supporting white people and their achievements don’t – and more to the point cannot - exist because that would be deemed ‘racist’. //

Do you have any evidence for that view?

My perception is that people make a point of lauding achievements by black and Asian people because those achievements are reached against the odds.

For black and Asian people to succeed in a white society, they have to overcome inbuilt obstacles that do not affect white people - so comparable achievements by white people are obviously going to be less worthy of comment.
No, just media hype, it sells news to the gullible, and an incitement to the Liberal left, as I said the gullible.

You think the Liberal left at the gullible ones, sold nonsense by media hype?

How do you explain the Daily Mail being the best selling paper then!
If it is true, maybe folk are simply joining a group who are against southern war heroes bring denigrated and their images removed. Sort of rough weather members.

(Or maybe they have a good pension scheme and lots of events.)

Really?

I am against the concept of statues being removed through PC motivation, but I don't feel the need to align myself with the Klan in order to hold and express that opinion!
Yes really.
You don't. But you aren't everybody.
andy-hughes at 23:34 Wed, you're entitled to your 'perception'.
Just because someone is noisy doesnt mean they are on the increase or representing the many, we can see that from the minority liberal left.

The more interesting question is whether or not the right wing sympathisers are on the rise. As Naomi points out above looking at history that is not a good thing as it shows a reaction to current social climate (PC and positive discrimination).
I have been looking at the Indy clip again. Its extraordinarily how offensive Barker is towards the journo. He made open threats towards her, saying that he was going to "burn her out"

I appreciate that America has different laws to us, but I would have thought he was committing some kind of offence, by publicly threatening this lady in that way.

I love America. I have crossed from coast to coast a few times, and the scenery is wonderful. I have met many really nice people, and I have made many friends over the years. But I can't imagine living in a country that allows this kind of blind hatred to flourish, free speech or not.
Agree completely with Naomi.....and YMB! Well put.

//Political correctness promotes multiculturalism and diversity and those who have the gall – for that it what it apparently is - to criticise those dubious wonders are demonised as bigots//

"I'm tired of being called a bigot. I'm going to join the KKK and/or the Nazis."

Hmmm...
Yes SP it does seem far fetched but when there is no one left to voice the feelings then people will turn to who will. This is often the extremes (left and right).

People moving far left or far right is a dangerous thing and should be recognised and addressed. History tells us that.
sp, selective editing there. Try again.

/// It is a fact, however, that when people think that things have gone too far (in their opinion)then that is when a reaction sets in. ///

Yes totally agree both with you and also naomi

Would the Op have posted that there had been a rise in numbers of the Far-Left or Black groups such as Socialist Worker's Party, Black Lives Matter or Black Power?
Another great post from naomi at 22:43.
/// How do you explain the Daily Mail being the best selling paper then! ///

Enjoyed bought and read by the majority of the nation.

Incidentally I do believe you actually buy it, so I also presume you read it.

Whereas I just read it's web site for free.

The Guardian's web site on the other hand appeals for one's cash.

They have got to be joking.
Thanks hereIam. :o)
"Enjoyed bought and read by the majority of the nation. "

A bit OTT when "the nation" is about 60 million people and the Daily Mail's circulation is about 1.5 million (I suppose, to be generous, times two to allow for couples buying the thing as an average).

Yes isn't that just what happened in 1930's Germany, perhaps not for calling them bigots, but because they were tired of the huge inflation, lack of jobs and what they considered a bad deal after WW1.
