If another person applies for a checkout job at a supermarket and is refused because they say they won't check alcohol through will that cause an outcry?
I wouldn't have made a fuss at having to choose a different checkout on this occasion...as long as it was before I had unloaded.....I think there was an episode in Tesco where that happened.....then I'd be miffed......
But I'm wondering how far this could go......how I'd feel if "no alcohol at this till".....became the norm....will mull that over and be interested in the opinions of others.......
And it truth....as has been said here already......the handling of other items must be treated the same as alcohol by those who don't want to check alcohol through for religious reasons....... x

Could ghave been that OG but doubt we will ever know. IMO sometime couldn't have made it clear one way or another at the interview although if the interviewee did mention it obviously Aldi should have picked up on it and acted as seen fit. If this is excused then surely other non handling of certain goods would be applicable too.
However, can anyone establish the T&C's for employees contracts and if it mentions something in the order of being excused handling certain products? Would be interesting to know.

I've just talked to 2 friends of moin, 1 works for aldi, he told me that new contracts state "You WILL be handling wine and pork, do you have any issues with this" but not exactly in those words. The older contracts do not state this.
I've also talked to a friend who is well learned and knowledgeable regarding law and they state that if you've signed the old contract, it was not stated that you would be handling pork and alcohol so they would be letting themselves into a legal wrangle, not can of worms but BUCKET of worms if they tried to fire this person.

I don't think that can be right, MickeyMcFinningam. Employment contracts do not need to specify in the minutest detail every task. product to be worked with etc. Most just refer to a job descriptions that describe the role in geeral terms but usually include catch alls such as c"carry out any other duties as required/reqested/instructed
Tilly2 that's a bit unfair girl, Oi've been enjoying a good crack moiself in the sun of the last bank holiday weekend with some good social lubricants and good company but id there's one thing oi've learnt online is that many are not like moiself, or yarself perhaps, some online are elderly, disabled, have no friends or not much of a life so the internet is all they have so we should be a little tolerant so we should.
