A very calm and measured response from the victim, file it in whatever box you wish but stabbing anyone is a heinous thing to do.

YMB....Yes, I realise that you are not defending the attackers..but lets face it........who would or could ?
The Police have described this as a hate crime, and I couldn't give a monkeys what twisted logic the attackers use to justify their actions. They would appear to have attacked this man precisely because he is a different race too them.
If that is not racism, then what is ?

Altricham is on the outskirts of Manchester where on 22 May this year a shrapnel-laden home-made bomb was detonated as people were leaving Manchester Arena following a concert by the American singer Ariana Grande. Twenty-three people were killed, including the attacker, and 250 were injured. The atrocity was carried out in the name of Islam.
This is an equally senseless attack, but at least it was only on one individual, as to his profession, it is as irrelevant as it is of those in the Arena massacre.

YMB...for someone who has said that he isn't defending these attackers, your condemnation is somewhat luke warm.
I haven't seen a photo of Dr Nasser Kurdy, but I would expect that he isn't lily-white.
But what difference does it make if he was attacked because he was Muslim or because he isn't lily-white ?
If I said that the attack was motivated by religion, rather than race, would that make you happier ?
It was an unprovoked attack on someone that would appear to just the sort of person we need in this country.

Well in fairness Islamic terrorists are not all that discriminating about who they murder - they even consider most muslims to be infidel, so quite happily kill them too. So "racist" would be less accurate than "religious lunatic" in their case.
I think the reason people apply "racism" to this kind of thing is because people with this kind of attitude to muslims often conflate "muslim" with "arab", and because they think in a "collective responsibility" way, where all members of a given demographic are accountable for the actions of other members. Your Islamic terrorist doesn't hold his victims "responsible" for anything except existing and not being the right kind of muslim.
