Hugh has died. He may not fit the latest right-on trends these days but the man undoubtedly changed all of our lives and bought sexual fredoms to the fore.

RIP Hugh.

To be frank, I always viewed Hefner as a figure of fun, with his faintly creepy persona.
Certainly a successful man. A good age.
Question Author
Mickey your are aware a vocal proponent of equal rights for gay people and black Americans; among those interviewed for Playboy was Malcolm X?

Yes YMB....and Martin Luther King.

Nabokov, Bellow, Atwood, Updike, Lessing, and many other respected authors wrote for the Magazine.

Its not the magazine that my earlier comments were aimed at but Hefner himself. There was something decidedly creepy about an old man surrounded by young girls who were obviously paid to be there.
Did nothing for my life.
As Mikey says, ‘creepy’.

Maybe it isn't a Freudian slip in the OP then.
He may well have changed my life, but if he did I would rather not know the details.
I always felt there was a touch of the Jimmy Saville about him
I don't see anything creepy about "old men" being surrounded by young girls (paid OR unpaid).
Are you suggesting that he was having sexual relations with them?
Aged 91....he clearly did something right and healthy in his life.
There's no such thing as an ugly rich man:-)
LOL^^
I agree with hopkirk
He did much good work, taking attractive but incredibly dense young women off the street and putting them to work for his gratification while keeping them relatively safe.
I agree with douglas who like Sir Robert Walpole was totally enveloped in the welfare of the women of the night in London.
Two great names to be thanked.
lol from me as well Melv !
apparently he admitted to having sex with over a thousand women, if that's the secret to a long life i'm in serious trouble

Well, there's no time like the present ael.
:-)
Hugh Hefner was a great man, and quite an intellectual, I'm sorry to hear he died.
