my knee-jerk reaction was one of 'well, about time'

Having had a bit of a thought - as China has invested heavily in various countries, surely they must bring pressure to bear on NK unless those countries are brave enough to tell China go away, we don't want you.

I saw a programme a couple of weeks ago that said NK money and other main markets are in Malaysia with hundreds of dummy and legitimate company's turning over billions for NK.

These sanctions are propbably just an outward excuse for NK to be indignant and start on the usual rhetoric.

China dare not do anything that would cripple the Korean economy; it would cause financial disaster and lead to millions of refugees coming to China. And it seems the Chinese share the British unwillingness to take in refugees.

I think the point is they the Chinese don’t want a war on their doorstep, understandably. They, like Russia, also profit from the slave labour that N Korea’s citizens provide. In return, the N Korean economy also benefits from the slave wages paid by its neighbours. So stability is what they crave. They will I have no doubt tolerate NK being a nuclear power if it serves its purpose of protecting that country from attack. But the rhetoric from Washington and Pyongyang must give them the jitters
