But they have been financially shakey for years. They were owned by a semi-royal, rich Luxemburg family for years.
Another win for ISIS. Monarch's profitable holiday destinations like Tunisia and Turkey have been badly affected in the last few years.

Webbo...what I meant by my earlier remark, is that this sort of thing....an Airline going bust is something that we used to see a lot of many years ago, but not so much now. Remember Court Line ?

My first trip abroad, as an adult ( well, 17 anyway ) was done by Clarkson Holidays and Court Line, when we went to Calella de mar,in Spain.
But there have been rumours of financial difficulties at Monarch for some time now, so I am not really surprised by today's events.
