// O'Bama (sic) care didn't work, for anyone. //

Good news for all the Republican Candidates in the mid term elections who will undoubtedly wipe up because ObamaCare isn't working. Trumpwill get a. Ajority in Congressand the Senate, and he won’t need Executive Orders.

But hold on, the Republicans have a majority in Congress, and the Senate, and still Trump can't get his crackpot ideas past his own party members.

Perhaps they need to drive him past a Grassy Knoll.
Regardless of you leftwing rantings obama care didnt work anyone.
That probably had quite a lot to do with the fact that getting it through *at all* required making an unbelievable number of concessions and compromises. It was by no means perfect but the point is that it was a step in the right direction, the first step towards the sort of healthcare plan that the US really needs. And all Trump has done -- all the Republicans in general have done -- for the last eight years is moan and rant and rave at how bad a system is that they've done their best to cripple, while finding absolutely nothing sensible to replace it with and having no idea what they want to do instead.
Yes jim, but it was crippling to some and that cannot be right either.

Really...?

Current spending on Medicare and Medicaid comes to about $900 billion, and that's essentially entirely covered by "Social Insurance taxes", which I am here assuming (hopefully correctly) is the US equivalent of our NI Contributions.

So yeah, I think it is actually affordable after all.
The problem is the NHS is not anywhere near as efficient as private health care so any move away from private heath care would be far far greater.
Free health care breeds inefficiency due to the fact that there is no penalty for abusing it (google ‘missed appointments’ and ‘unnecessary A&E visits’). This inefficiency equates to huge costs.
