Just seen the news. Pubs that sell food: no smoking; pubs that don't/private clubs: up to them and even that will take years. I just think they've missed an opportunity to follow suit with Ireland here. In poll after poll 70%+ of the public agreed with a total ban so what's the governement afraid of? I just dispair at this dithering, ban this disgusting habit in public places now! Thoughts please.

I'm tired of this where you all are always taking our rights away! I am a smoker and it irritates me with all thies smoking bans. I'm sure some of you are thinking, "oh your a smoker, you have no rights" or "what about my rights to not have to inhale your smoke". First though I don't force you to sit next to me. Also I do believe that if an establishment wants to allow smoking that should be the establishments choice, not the governments. I do believe that if the establishment is going to allow smoking that it should be in a designated area with plenty of ventalation. As for workers, if you don't wanna be around the smoke, work in the non smoking section or for an establishment that bans smoking out right. Theres always options. Stop taking away mine.

we here in australia have just brought in the no smoking ban. Pubs and clubs are only allowed one designated area inside their establishment where smoking is permitted. And by june 2006 i think it is going to be a blanket ban.

When the plan was put in everyone was like oh their going to lose buisness and all that jazz but where they've lost the occassional smoker they have picked up quite alot of non smokers.

i believe it is a good move, i am for one, happy about. it.

Does anyone know a website or statistics on a smoking and non-smoking people? Be interesting to know if alot of people quit smoking coz of the ban. Im not a smoker.
