Have they been arrested because it is feared that they may be a threat to our safety or because they are members of a banned group?

Can't be the former because the police have insisted there is no threat to public safety.

Well you have answered your own question then.
AOG

You’ve just answered your own question!
Islay...we cross posted.
It's a shame that the Police and Intelligence Services have to waste time on these dangerous inadequates when they need to be able to focus on greater threats elsewhere....
if you actually read your link it tells you (even in big letters in the headline)
'All six have been detained on suspicion of being a member of a proscribed organisation (National Action) contrary to sec 11 of the Terrorism Act.'

Lol SP great minds and all that!

Seems the same on here, one can be condemned for just holding a particular opinion.
Are you talking of yourself? what opinion do you actually hold AOG? You never say.
Being an ABer is not (yet) against the law, whereas being a member of this group in your link is.

And this time, 9 posts in, *you* are the one to throw the first insults.....

It doesn'tbodewellfor the remainder of the year if this is how you behave 3 days into it, AOG.

The question that must be asked is why being a member of this particular group is against the law, have they actually carried out any acts of terrorism?

Most acts of terrorism have been carried out in the name of Islam, yet being a follower of that group isn't unlawful.

I think you have had the differences explained to you many times, AOG.

Fanatics of any kidney ought to be swiftly dealt with......and that includes any knuckleheads who believe they are fighting to protect Enggurrlund....
//Most acts of terrorism have been carried out in the name of Islam//,

do you have stats to back that claim up as I seem to recall that there have been a hell of a lot of acts of terrorism on UK soil that have nothing to do with Islam
They haven’t been arrested for their beliefs plainly (!)
NA is a shadowy group which we know had already targeted blacks and in particular Jews.
We don’t know what these people had planned but they’re classified as a terrorist group and presumably we ARE safer for their arrest.

/// And this time, 9 posts in, *you* are the one to throw the first insults..... ///

That was no insult, I was just stating fact, none of us on here can state that we have 'great minds'.
Was your new year resolution to up your pettiness scale AOG?
Ah well.....it's gone, AOG, so no-one now will be able to see that it was, in fact, one of your more usual insults rather than the innocuous even-handed remark you now claim.

Seems that the likes of Islay & co hold a very strong position on AB.

It was ironic that I also posted previously at 11.49am.
there's no threat to public safety ... now. They've been arrested.

///The question that must be asked is why being a member of this particular group is against the law?///

I found this, very poorly concealed, at the end of the Link you gave in the OP.

///National Action became the first extreme right-wing group to be banned under terrorism laws in December 2016.
The proscription meant that being a member of or inviting support for the organisation is a criminal offence carrying a sentence of up to ten years in jail.
In the official list of proscribed groups, it is described as a 'racist neo-Nazi group' that was established in 2013 and has branches across the UK which 'conduct provocative street demonstrations and stunts aimed at intimidating local communities'.
The document adds that the group is 'virulently racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic' and says its activities and propaganda materials are particularly aimed at recruiting young people///
