as if it's not expensive enough. Surely there must be a better way to dispose of all these billions of coffee non disposable cups.

"...we are talking of 25p per cup, a not inconsiderab le tax," It still won't stop people drinking it. If you have two a day five days a week it will cost you £32.50 instead of £30.00 (assuming £3 per cup). People shelling out thirty quid a week on coffee obviously have a bit of income to dispose of because there are far cheaper alternatives . That much extra over...

I don't think it's a trend/fad either. Coffee shops were here in the uk 200-300 years ago. It's just take away that has increased...probably due to the innovation of cups to keep drinks hot. So the solution is getting people to dispose of thrm in the proper receptacle.
I have no problem with beards and top knots...some guys carry them off really well. And they're not really new either. ;-)

Jeez Baths I see your apology lasted a long time!!
Anyway back to the OP - if I want to buy a coffee everyday as part of my diet then I will - instant coffee is not the same and neither is the protein content.
I use a reusable cup already and feel that if they encouraged that course of action then more people will use recyclable ones

Ouch my other half has a beard, an iphone and long hair he man buns, but I do think he's allowed to have a cup of coffee if he wants one, especially since he takes his own re-useable cup with him. Generalisations really don't help, we've had coffee shops for over 300 years and takes outs since they began, so it's really not a recent 'fad' as some people appear to be implying. Just use a refillable cup, it's THAT simple.
I heard it somewhere that charging people for a re-usable item has a bigger effect than giving them a discount for not doing. In other words, charging £3 for a cup of coffee + 50p for a re-usable cup has a bigger effect than charging £3.50 for a cup of coffee and giving a 50p diiscount for providing their own cup.
