//Ethnic 'minorities' also have names for the indigenous white people here!!//

Really - what names would those be?
This is a complete load of cobblers !

The term Little Monkeys is meant to refer to little kids behaving mischievously, but I expect everybody knows that.

The DM really must find something better to fell its pages with, than this drivel
People who see racism everywhere, are suppressed racists. PC running wild.

They do - but using a black child was still ill-considered in this day and age.

As advised by the majority of posters, the use of the terms 'monkey' and 'jungle' with reference to black people is still common enough to be an issue, and this advert is playing into their hands.

I doubt very much that offence was intended, but that is not the point.

Just because offence is not intended does not mean it is not delivered, so that is really not an excuse for a multi-national garment chain which probably invests millions in its advertising campaigns - they should change advertisers, or have a word with the person who has the final say before ads go to press.

Extremists of any sort are bad for any society.

But just because some people appear to making a point with an unnecessary degree of hysteria does not mean that their point is without merit.

It was a stupid error, the company appears to have acknowledged it, so we can all move on.
As he is a child i'm guessing the parents would have approved it.
Mikey, whatever the Daily Mail is or is not I hardly think you can criticise it on this occasion. They've not fabricated this nonsense, they've simply reported it.
I feel sorry for the child. His career could well have been wrecked.

Dont suppose the right-on crowd thought of that though.
"They do - but using a black child was still ill-considered in this day and age."

But...but...in every other advert anywhere it's essential that black and other 'minorities' are represented, crowbarring in mixed race relationships if at all possible so why, why is this case sooooooo special.

Over analysing, moving the goalposts mid-match and general pandering will do nobody any good in the end.

Maybe adults just need to behave like adults.

Be interesting to know, had the company decided to use a white child to model the garment, how many black parents would have chosen to buy the garment for their little monkeys.

Spathy....well said.
I highly doubt the designer was a racist... perhaps just an oversight... or perhaps a statement that people shouldn't be so sensitive, kids have been called 'cheeky monkeys' for years!!
If the jumper is racist... then it's racist.... If it was a "racist jumper" then it would be a racist jumper regardless of the person wearing its skin color...... This clearly isnt the case.... So the jumper is not "racist" ..... However..... If something is ok for one groups of people to wear "white kids" ... but not another.... then it is discriminatory purely because one group of people cant wear it without the world losing its damn mind ..... Perhaps we should all just chill the hell out and stop acting like a it's our right to be offended for other people? .... Just an idea ... might make the world nicer... at least quieter anyway
accurax Agreed!
