Emmie....this case has little, if any comparison with the Wests.

Together with his wife Rosemary, West killed 12 young women, none of of them children, and their own children ( I think )

These Californians haven't killed anyone, at least as far as we know, and all of their victims were their own offspring.

I agree, simply from the photos it is clear there is something to answer for.

However, as you know, I despise trial by media (if only because it must taint juries) so as they are pleading not guilty I have to hold my nose and await the outcome of the legal process.

That really is the daftest question. You may as well ask why another - or even many - of the thousands of parents in the US who home educate their children haven’t done similarly. Wherever they live, normal, rational people just don’t do things like this. These people aren’t normal. Now do you understand?

I find that the fact that neighbours noticed what was going on yet none told the authorities to be the most disturbing aspect of this sad case.

It's still a fact though....this isn't Americas fault, it's not home schooling, it's a pair of sadists, a pair sadists who had 13 children instead of 1 or 2. If they'd tortured 1 or 2 it would be just as bad.

Yes. Minding one's own business might be all very well but not when people are clearly being abused.

In reality though people are unsure. If I seen kids going through a bin I'd think they'd lost something. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion they were being abused.

Jack....I am not sure if anything was clear, if the kids were shackled to their beds, out of sight of anyone.

But if a huge family like this moved into my road, and then weren't seen for days/weeks at a time, I would like to think that someone would have called the Authorities.

Ummm....these kids were severely emaciated, and weighed half what similar, health kids of their age should.

They were only allowed one shower a year and were prevented from washing properly, so I am guessing that they probably smelled.

Why Mikey. I have new neighbours move in about 6 months ago. I haven't seen them yet. I know they have a baby, I hear it cry, should I phone SS?

But if that family has 12 others kids, they were rarely seen in public. and when they were, they were seen to scavenge in trash bins, I think I might call someone.
